This book kept me p.o’d the entire time. I liked the bread crumbs but it felt like the mystery draaaaaaagged. This book could’ve been shorter, IMO. I found myself pushing through because the plot was intriguing enough… But I felt like EVERYONE was a part of the miscommunication, and after everything, finally the logical thing happened. 😑 I mean, if y’all gonna be dramatic, just stay that way… for the entertainment value. I was very much like, “…okay?”
The only take away I got from this was if you think they’re your friend, no they ain’t. Hating in plain sight. Everyone’s a suspect. I’m so mad… the only spell these people were forgetting was the communication spell.

“There are spells for breaking and spells for mending. But there are no spells for forgetting.”
…obviously. 😑😑😑

I would probably rate this a 3.5! Cozy and moody mystery with just the right kind of magical vibes.

This was my second Adrienne Young book after reading and really liking The Unmaking of June Farrow, and she is now an auto buy author for me!!
The setting on Saiorse Island gives such a gothic feel. It was so interesting to read about legends, myths, superstitions, and how magic worked on the island.
The writing is slow-paced, BUT it is made up for in how beautiful, descriptive, and captivating it is. We get multiple POVs from a few different characters and dual timelines as secrets are unraveled within this small island community. We even get one unexpected POV towards the end of the book that I absolutely loved.
The twists around the mystery about the death of someone on the island were ones I didn’t see coming and never could have predicted. The second chance romance wasn’t a big plot point, but it was still there and it was beautiful.
