it was just okay for me. i love a good mystery set in a small town, but if i’m picking up a book that’s supposed to be about magic I expect a lot more of it! also, when Nixie said that August and Emery’s love isn’t like ordinary teenage love i really wish the author had shown that through the story instead of just telling us.

I pretty much read this one in a day! I love Young’s writing and I easily get sucked in to her stories. I loved the mystery in this one and the second chance romance. I had some mixed feelings about the end that prevented me from giving it a full 5 stars, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and would recommend it!

I enjoyed this novel and found myself captivated by the world Young created, an island community separated from the mainland, but dependent on it for its survival. The characters were flawed in all the right ways to make the story work well and I both liked most of the characters and disliked their inability to see the results of their actions and choices. There was a melancholy pervading the story, but I found it ultimately to be hopeful and satisfying.
I have recommended this novel to my students as the characters provide interesting conversation possibilities.

Enjoyed the story alot . Only critique is so much build up and then it was done so quickly. Ending was truly abrupt. No repercussions for anyone? Hmmmm

Spells for forgetting was everything I had hoped it would be! Atmospheric, a little bit romantic, mysterious, a little dangerous and mostly a story about real people with real problems and longing and wishes. I like those small community dramas, especially because the author does an amazing job blending all this with a little bit of magic!
