I’m a bit disappointed… It was so confusing at times and the constant scientific jargon about rocks was truly unbearable. It made sense because the narrator is a scientist, but also stfu, it’s not that interesting ?

That said, it was fun to make connections with other books like Heart of Darkness or archetypal scientific tropes (tfg flashbacks).

I wouldn’t be against reading other H.P. Lovecraft stories, but after this one… idk

So much build-up and it delivers! I enjoyed the Sci-Fi fieldwork parts as much as the creepy rewrite of the worlds biological history.

Is unreal how lovecraft's writing just shifts you into the reality of the book! As I was reading this absolute excuse of a story, I felt the madness crawling in my bones and almost manisfesting itself, that was close..Fewh!

This was strangely nostalgic for me, even though I’d never read any Lovecraft before—it had the feeling of playing a Metroidvania for the first time (ie. a very special feeling). I was really impressed with the vivid anatomical descriptions Lovecraft was able to achieve… I looked up fan art of an Elder Thing, and it’s crazy how dead-on my own imagination was for such an otherworldly being!
