This is the first book in the Twisted series by Ana Huang. I heard all sorts of comments ranging from people who became obsessed with it and others who DNF’d it almost immediately. So of course I had to read it for myself.
It’s… interesting? I like the dual POV, I like the MMC cold and dark-natured attitude, I laughed at some silly moments and thoughts by the FMC, and I think the betrayals and story-turns were well done. Also, if it wasn’t obvious already, I love the forced proximity and who did this to you tropes.
Having said that, I don’t think this was a book to become obsessed over, and I understand why a lot of people don’t continue reading the next books in the series.
Some things just didn’t sit right with me. I think him calling her a “whore” multiple times throughout the book and being overly possessive of her at times didn’t really vibe with me. Plus, the ending - which could’ve been a more sweet and romantic moment to show the MMC’s development arch was ruined for me… but maybe it works for some readers?
I’m definitely excited to continue reading the books in the series and see how they compare.
