This was just ok. I liked the slow development of the relationship and the realization for Kim. Other than this it was slow and there just wasn’t enough angst for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

Such a nice read with a great cast of characters which the author took time to develop, something which I appreciate. Riley and Kim's backgrounds and friendship were also solid before the romance began, so as a reader, it was easy to imagine the HEA.

The only thing that didn't feel authentic to me was Tyler's voice, at times it didn't read like a nine year old's.

Heartwarming and Cute

When tattoo artist Riley and her lovable dog move in next door to beautiful single mom Kim and her cute son Tyler, no one expects their friendship to evolve into a fake romance that feels a little too real sometimes.

Love Next Door is cute and charming right from Riley and Kim’s first meeting. Their easy friendship develops naturally, thanks in part to Kim’s precocious son and Riley’s friendly pooch. Even though Kim is supposedly straight and cursed with a terrible dating record, the chemistry between her and Riley is so real that a romance seems inevitable…to everyone but them. Riley, Kim, Tyler, and all the side characters are endearing and fun, and there is only a small amount of angst, making this a truly enjoyable and relaxing read.

If you like slow burn toaster oven sapphic romances with a bit of fauxmance thrown in for good measure, you’ll adore Love Next Door.

Well written light and sweet slow burn romance with toaster oven and friends to lovers tropes.

Riley is very likeable main character, perfect for this type of romance. At some point around 70% I wasn't sure if I hoped there was more to Kim and her awakening but the story evolved and the next 15-20% built her character for the romance.

I like books like these with main characters that are "normal people", easily relatable. Sometimes it's fun to read romances with celebrities and successful business people in them but those are far from regular life. So, I like that an entertaining romance can be built with down to earth cast. Love Next Door delivers on that front.

I really liked this book. I could feel them falling for each other. Something did feel a little off.
lighthearted reflective medium-paced

I enjoyed this and it didn’t feel like the queer character was pressuring the non-queer character as is the case with many toaster oven plots.

I was nervous when I started this book knowing there was a child from a previous marriage and the ex partner is still in the picture. It usually makes for easy conflict and I always end up feeling so bad for the child. I was thankful to see I had nothing to worry about. The ex husband seemed like a decent fellow and didn't begrudge Kim for moving on or dating a woman.
It was a sweet book start to finish, I would ve loved and short epilogue with Kim, Riley, Tyler and Cari together officially but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book.
