Too long and tedious and just not capturing my attention at all.

Truly a beautiful masterpiece that reports and describes the life of Frida Kahlo in such detail and emotion. Never does the author underestimate the intelligence of the reader and writes each page with stark honesty rather than sanitizing Frida’s life.
I also loved how the author used primary sources and conducted interviews to tell Frida’s story using her own words and the words of those closest to her. And utilizing Frida’s art to tell her story in such depth was wonderful, rather than brushing over the life she poured into each piece and its significance.
I will always always cherish this book and revisit it!

I enjoyed the book but I could tell that the book was written by an art historian rather than a biography. A good biograhpher tells us what makes the person significant and worthy of biography. I kept wondering if people would be interest in Frida Kahlo if she were not Diego Rievera's wife. There is a lot of criticism of her painting written from the point of view of an art critic but I was left wondering what her overall contribution was to the art world.

Interesting but dry. This probably would have been better in Spanish (audio).

Intimate and meticulous, Frida and her art sing from the pages.
