I didn't like Victor in the other two Heart books, his character just always grated me the wrong way. So, I guess it's no real surprise that a book dedicated to him would take me forever to get through. I enjoy Claire's ability to write a good romance, she gets it. She absolutely gets it. She makes me swoon, but Victor and Nicole simply did not do it for me.
2.5 stars. This one started out promising, but I dragged myself through the last 50% of it. It was frustrating to read, as all of the conflict in the last half of the book is predicated on the main characters inability to have an open and honest conversation. That and the weirdly elaborate Target scene that seemed more about fawning over target instead of moving the story along just kind caused me to check out of it.

I just completed the entire Hearts series. I'm not sure I've ever felt so invested in any other series. These books pulled me in and haven't let me go. I will absolutely have a book hangover!

I loved Victor and Nicole because they were so much more than what they were at the very beginning of their story. They met and went their separate ways, and I more than appreciated that neither was pining for the other during the five-year separation. Was there a heck of an attraction between them five years ago? Sure, and maybe it could have turned into something much more than lust had they stayed together, but I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason and that there's a time for everything. Neither one of them was prepared for that something more. She was just twenty-two and about to graduate from college and he was starting a job he saw taking him far. But now at thirty-one and seeing Nicole again, ready to file for divorce from the man she's been married to for five years, Victor is beginning to come to certain realizations, and when that sensitive side of him comes out, it's difficult to look elsewhere. And Nicole is no helpless damsel; she's independent and intelligent and she goes after what she wants: Victor.
As much as I adored having Oliver and Estelle Hart (Kaleidoscope Hearts) and Jensen and Mia Reynolds (Paper Hearts) around and playing important but non-scene-stealing roles in this book, I'm glad that the focus was really on Victor and Nicole. Some series that bring back past main characters tend to shift the focus a tad too much, but not in this case and rightly so. Victor and Nicole had my full attention from the very beginning and nothing could have distracted me from them. I wouldn't, however, mind if Claire Contreras decides to write a book about some of the supporting characters, namely, Gabriel Lane (Nicole's soon-to-be former husband), Marcus (no last name mentioned and Nicole's bodyguard and driver), Brent Thomas (someone living in Nicole's neighborhood), Corinne (also no last name and Victor's assistant), and Chrissy (who doesn't have a last name and Nicole's best friend). Just putting that out there, but that's for the future. For now, let may simply say that Elastic Hearts is Claire Contreras at her best. Five-plus stars. ♥

Loved the writing, but I couldn't connect with the characters like I did in the other two books.
This story was different from the two previous books on the heart series. And it was a good different, I think. The patterns of the story weren't the same, the structure and everything was very lineal I always appreciate the difference between stories. Although I confess, and it's the main reason why this isn't a 5 stars, that I was kind of missing the climax point, the point of "make it or break it" as I like to call it. Everything lead to the point of the HEA in the end, so there wasn't this big scene where the characters had this big conflict where everything was at risk. I mean there were some moments that hinted at this, but they weren't that big of a deal. Everything was resolved smoothly in the end. It was new, and different but it was ok.
I loved the characters, though I wish there would have been a little more character development, a little bit more background on their life stories. But I felt the passion between Victor and Nicole from the first chapter. (Oh and I really disliked Gabe)
The story kept me completely focus on the book, there was no point where I felt bored or wanted to skip a paragraph, on the contrary, I just wanted to keep on reading, and sometimes I couldn't because I have to take a flight in a couple on hours and there were things to arrange, but damn I did it! And I'm so glad I took the time with this!
I have some doubts now though, was this the last book in the series? If so, I kind of need a bigger epilogue for the three lovely couples! Please!!!
