Just “eh” for me. Pretty anti-climactic. Not my favorite of hers.
emotional tense slow-paced

After it is revealed that her hedge fund investor husband turns out to be a ponzi scheme crook sentenced to 150 years in prison for making off with millions of investor's money, Meredith seeks refuge in estranged best friend's summer house on Nantucket island. The best friend is still recovering from the loss of her beloved husband, albeit badly. Other characters: best friend's dashing and rogue brother, local widower who's self-appointed job is to "was to know everyone on the island and everything that was going on", and a very brief appearance from best-friend's self-absorbed lesbian daughter. Plenty of TV-style drama.

Not usually the kind of thing I read; I was experimenting with reads from the bestseller lists. None of the characters were very likeable or relateable, to me. But once I started, the drama was difficult to turn away from. Luckily it didn't take up too much precious time, and actually, was a welcome summer distraction.

Dont get me wrong, im an elin Hildebrand fan.
I always know what to expect when i pick up one of her books. Theyre easy, enjoyable reads. But this story just didnt do it for me. It was too long, and pretty boring. She does a great job of immersing her readers into her scenes, but in this case it went on and on and on. I felt like i was there but wanted to be anywhere else.

WOW!! What a betrayal of a husband and dropping his wife to figure out life on her own. Not to mention is own children. Like he never loved them before. Luckily she has friends and an old flame to help pick up the pieces.

What took me so long to read a Hilderbrand book!!!!!!!

I LOVED this book! It wasn’t world stopping, but I really really enjoyed it!!! I’m always skeptical of 400 page long books if they’re not fantasy, but I can say I am obsessed.
Oh, to be in Nantucket for the summer.

The story kept me on the edge of my seat. Some parts were predictable, yes. But man. The details and flashbacks were perfect.

This is 100% a FEEL GOOD, read by the pool, lounge out while you read kind of book!!!
