Okay. It was amazing because it was Game of Thrones. But there were just too many chapters of Cersei and Jaime, and just a few chapters of Arya and Sansa, I thought that was a shame because they are my favourite characters in this book...

A few new characters gave a lot more insight in the world. Because of the lengthy chapters of each character and the small amount of characters in this book, it made sure that everything was told.

Certainly not my favourite, but definitely worth the read, especially because I want to move on to [b:A Dance with Dragons|10664113|A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5)|George R.R. Martin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327885335s/10664113.jpg|2936175]!
slow-paced

This was over so fast....

George R. R. Martin states at the end of the book that he divided book 4 and 5 according to characters. So book 4 only tells you half of the story which is happening at the time.

I really liked this book. There was much going on but then again not so much. The characters were great as always and I´m dying to find out what happens next.

The only problem I had with this book are the "new" chapters. in Book 1-3, you had your character-chapters which you knew and loved (or not). In book 4, there is a new kind of chapter, not titled with any name but things like "The knight of blahblah" or "The ruler of thingy". Now you have one chapter to figure out what is going on there. Which is not easy...and also not THAT interesting (depends on the chapter, though).

So for me, this was a weakness of this volume and I hope that there are not any more of those chapters in the 5th...

I've decided to give this one a three due to the slow start... It really didn't pick up Majorly till the last 250 pages (ish). As soon as it reached this section it was definitely a book that I didn't want to put down.

I saw a review calling this the black sheep of A Song of Ice and Fire and I feel like that’s pretty accurate. You don’t see characters like Dany or Jon Snow or Tyrion but the viewpoint of other characters helps world build a lot. Still an enjoyable read
