Good, but took me a while to get through.

as much as I remember most of the story from my previous (numerous) readings, I have to admit this one kind of slipped my mind, not because it is not good (it is really very good), but because it’s more of a preparation for Dance. It sets a lot in motion, especially the Dorne b-plot, but sets a lot aside (namely Jon and Daenerys). However, I remain a big big fan of Jaime and Sansa’s arc, and although I find Brienne’s a bit too long winded, it was still an utmost pleasure to go through it. What a delight this story is !

I can definitely see why someone may not like this book as much as the others. But I am here for schizophrenic Cersei and her terrible decision making.

I know a lot of my friends have this as their least-favorite (so far) book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. Book 3 ends with about a zillion cliffhangers, and then almost NONE of those characters are in this book AT ALL. If I had to wait for five years only to find out that those characters wouldn't be addressed, and then had to wait SIX more years to get back to those plots (in book 5), I'd be pissed too. As it was, being able to read this right after book 3 and knowing I could move straight in to book 5 when I was done made it a pleasant interlude with certain characters that focused on areas of Westeros that hadn't been explored.
