i think that this was my least favorite of GoT so far? I didn't dislike it, it just felt like a B plot to me, and i spent the whole book waiting for a climax that never really came. i may also feel that way because a) the last book was so crazy that i kind of expected this one would be the same level of chaos, b) because i kept reading while i was high, and c) because i waited so long in between books that i was like who tf are some of these minor characters i literally do not remember. i was glad to finally get a Cersei POV in this one but i missed some of my other favs' perspectives :/ and the iron islands stuff was interesting but felt like kind of random and irrelevant until the very end

Reviewing this series is hard after the fact, because I basically ploughed through four books non-stop and didn't even pause to review them properly. Just this: they're utterly amazing.
A Feast for Crows felt slower than the rest, though -- probably due to its missing viewpoints and limited focus due to being split off from A Dance with Dragons, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I loved all the characters featured here, though, and the new POVs were delightful as always -- I particularly enjoyed the new addition of several minor viewpoints. Martin's doing some really interesting experiments in narration, identity, and memory. Basically, the more I read and learn and notice, the more I'm in goddamn awe. :{
Still, again, the pace felt slower. It makes sense, though -- the realm's mopping up, and maybe gearing up for the events of the next book. For which I wait breathlessly. I do not understand how original fans survived the 6-year wait.
