“He left a son.”
“Aye, he did. That is what I fear the most, in truth.”
“Why should you fear?”
“Jaime... Tyrion is Tywin’s son, not you”

Original: 6/1/2012: This rating should be 4.5 stars. I understand why the ending is the way it is, but it's why there's that missing half star. I like seeing how all the characters are doing, and ignoring some to forward the stories of others, really was quite annoying. On the other hand, the end is an ending, and luckily I have Book 5 already waiting for me. Still excellent writing and I'm sitting on the edge of my seat wondering how everyone will finally come together when they all seem to be getting further apart.

**Reread and finished 4/24/16. There is so much that I don't remember from my first read. I'm a bit disappointed that Book 6 isn't out yet, and a bit unsure I want to watch the show and despair about all the changes, especially the absence of favorite characters. Ah well. Such is life and I still agree with my 4.5 stars.
adventurous slow-paced

I got a little bogged down by the time I delved into A feast of crows. I wanted a little touch of happy endings and a few nice characters. Thank God for Tyrion and the Dragon Queen. But I am certainly deep into the story now, enjoying the drama and waiting to see what happens next. It's a good read - well done - with great attention to detail!

Still a great read with lots of everything I love from this series, but this is the first book that felt frustrating. I had more questions than answers, and the fact that Martin left out half of the characters' stories is annoying (he decided the book was too long, and the rest are included in the 5th book). Also, not a lot happens until the very end. It's still enjoyable, but the design of the book felt clunky.

i liked this book by the end and really loved the addition of expanding the stories and characters into dorne

however there was almost too many character additions that it became hard to follow at times. it makes it hard to notice where POV journeys cross over and subtle references back to previous events. every new character no matter how minor had to have its own description of their background and appearance which i do like the attention to detail and world building but it’s hard to keep track. and why are there so many freys !!!!!!
