Until Leaves Fall in Paris was the 2nd Sarah Sundin novel I’ve read, but I think it was the one I enjoyed the most because it’s not a traditional “war story”. It’s not about two army personnel who have joined the conflict, but rather two civilians who are living in Paris just before the attack on Pearl Harbour plunged the USA into the war.
Lucille and Paul’s story shows a lot about what “ordinary” people faced, and small acts of resistance could make a difference, but also how frightening the times were. I’m not sure I could have the courage of the characters, to be honest. It also shows a lot about what people did to survive and how appearances were deceptive: everyone believed Paul was a collaborator, but that often wasn’t the case.
This transformed into a lovely story of hope, family and love it the midst of war, with two people choosing to do whatever they could- and sacrifice all if necessary- to save the ones they loved. I think there is another title in the series, and I will happily read that.
Recommended as a WW2 story with more than a hunt of romance.
Thanks to Revell for approving my request for this title on Netgalley. This did not influence my review and all opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this WWII historical novel about 2 Americans in Paris, and an adorable little girl, too. Good story, likeable characters.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and appreciated the unique storyline. I found it charming that Lucie's character wasn't the best at everything she did, which left room for her character to grow within the story.
This was my first Sarah Sundin read, so I'm not sure if it's typical of her writing style, but the emphasis on religion felt a little heavy handed and preachy. It's a fine line to walk between showing a character's beliefs and devotion to their faith without alienating readers with a not-so-subtle religious intervention.
(I listened to the audiobook version, read by Tanya Eby, which I would recommend to any audiobook fans.)

i really enjoyed this book! lucie and paul were such great characters, and i also enjoyed the sweetness of paul's daughter, josie. her way of seeing the world and processing the war through her feenee stories was such a wonderful addition to this book! i thought the writing in this book was strong and i was drawn into the suspenseful elements of this story, especially the way lucie and paul learn to trust each other and fall in love as well as their harrowing escape back to america. if you like world war II fiction, i think you'll enjoy this book.

I loved this book! I’ve read some really good historical fiction over the past couple of months, and this one is one of my new favorites.
This was a historical fiction with a sweet romance. I loved the characters in this story and was sad to see it end.
If you are looking for a clean, christian fiction WWII novel with delightful characters and lots of suspense, I would highly recommend this one. I could hardly put it down!
