Is that an aunt I see? Or a creepy guy who shows up at the end? I keep going back for the cat. I'm loving this cat.

This issue started off confusing. Showing a new part of this world. I'm still not sure of what exactly is going on but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The artwork is just so beautiful. It's stunning in every single issue. And the cliffhanger at the end of this issue was great. This series is becoming very addicting.

HE DIDN'T SAY YOU WERE A GOOD
PERSON. HE SAID YOU WERE A HERO. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

This is book 4, and I’m only now realising Kippa is a girl.

Maika finds/is kidnapped by her father who gathers war lords from all over to speed up the war.
This forced her to confront her past and straddle the line of nature v nurture, hunger v justice, wolf v monster.

MY DEAR, IN MY LIMITED EXPERIENCE, HOW PARENTS EXERCISE POWER OVER THEIR CHILDREN IS THE ONLY CONVERSATION FAMILY EVER TRULY HAS.

Kippa is still my favourite and I’m happy she could go off and have her own adventure even though it was fraught and miserable and terrifying because she learns more about herself and her powers.

I want more on the Baroness and I can’t wait for her confrontation and revelation with Maika.

More information is provided through this installment (and by Professor Tam Tam and his lessons to the little kits, of course)!
We slowly come to understand what the inner monster of Maika is, although it's not that clear where it came from and how it possessed her.
Also, all these masked people are so intriguing!

All in all, another 4 stars for Maika's fighting to control the beast, and for Professor Tam Tam of course, and his chocolate mice!

Again a great issue of Monstress!

The POV shifts shortly to the Ancients, and there are some interesting revelation about Constantine. I really like where the story is going and I'm also dreading the next 2 issues, as those are the last I will be able to read for now.

At the risk of repeating myself: The artwork is amazing, this time as well. Especially the little fox girl is so cute!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This review was originally published on NetGalley.

Things are getting interesting for Maika that doesn't have a moment of peace. I can't put this comic down!
The monster appears more in the issue and also other secondary characters like Aku, the Monkey King. I really liked when there are different perspectives from the different characters. I tend to get lost a bit when the change happens, and in the comic, I don't have that problem. The plot is easy to follow.

Marjorie did a wonderful job in the creation of this world and the complex, range-filled Maika.

I definitely recommend this comic to anyone that likes horror/fantasy genres.

Continuing in the same beautiful artwork style, the story continues with our protagonist showing difficulty controlling her newly discovered monster friend that she is playing host for. The hunger it has and the food it requires will likely prove troublesome. The little girl continues to be scared of her.. and rightfully so.
