What a disappointment. I have read all of Ms Jackson's books and have never been disappointed until now. The writing did not seem as polished as her other books. At time, it was all over the place. There were too many plotlines, which seemed to be Ms Jackson's way of trying to throw a curveball, but it just didn't work for me. By the big reveal, I didn't really care that much about what happened to Meribel or why. I'll try Ms Jackson's next book, but this one just wasn't for me.

Slower than I would have liked. The ending was amazing and action packed but the rest of the book was a bit of a slog.

Darn, I so badly wanted to like this one but it just was a big miss for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters. I didn’t find anyone likeable and barely any interest in the storyline. I tried my best to stay invested but I just found myself looking forward to the end so I could move on.

The difference between stalking and courtship is so thin, I thought then. It all depends if the person likes you back.”

It’s a great feeling when you can’t stop reading a book (even willingly doing some extra chores to give yourself more time to listen)! It does end a bit abruptly, but the second half is full of suspense. The interesting characters are well-developed and the social commentary is sharp. I really enjoy listening to Joshilyn Jackson narrate her own books, and in this one, her daughter also does a fantastic job with the narration of the protagonist’s daughter.

I love Joshilyn Jackson, but this one was a little much. I really cared about the characters and the book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, but there were so many twists and so much going on that it was a little too much, and there was a lot left hanging in the end. I'll still line up to read her next one!

This book was so slow to begin with. I had a hard time getting through it. It started to pick up and got my attention but then fell flat at the end.

I read this whole book in one day. Some parts were sloooooow and some parts were so incredibly fast.

I liked this. I don't love Meribel, but I grew to like her more as the book went on. I had a lot of guesses and none of them were correct.

I also audibly gasped at one of the twists. This book made me sad and made me angry, sometimes all at once.
