*3.75*This story was a very Interesting read. I definitely favorited some stories over others such as “the husband stitch” , “eight bites” & “the resident”. These we’re the ones that kept me intrigued the most throughout and I feel like I fully understood the context of. Overall the whole book was good and interesting I will definitely look into reading more of Carmen Maria Machado.

I enjoyed this collection of horror and supernatural short stories that all engaged with themes around the exploitation of and other's expectation's around women and their bodies. Machado has such a distinct writing style and I am such a fan. She is also a master of form and structure when it comes to her storytelling and it was impressive to see the variety of ways in which she was able to tell these stories. Overall, there were some stories that I absolutely loved and some that didn't hit the mark as much. Either way, I look forward to reading whatever she comes out with next.
