Some books remind me that English is not my native language, that there are plenty of words that i don't know , that there is still so much i cannot understand, this book was definitely one of them.
It's usual for me to use a dictionary, or a translator , whenever i read English books, but at some extent , it just gets boring, and i become incapable of remembering half of the words and i start forgetting the meaning of half the others as soon as i close the book , or the computer on my case.
The truth is maybe i would've enjoyed it more if it was in Arabic, or if there were normal animals' names , like bunny , dog and crow instead of hare, hound and raven (there are numerous other names for crows apparently this is the only one i remembered because it was on one of the last stories).
And there is some stories that i already knew , from childhood bed stories, that are known to be Arabs stories.I don't wanna sound unfair , or not believing specially that this stories have some kind of special place in every American / British child's heart , but i doubt the origins of some of them, i may think they are stolen, well maybe i'm wrong and please don't hate me for saying so , it's only a theory.

So many classics morality tales that have stuck in my memory from reading an illustrated version at age 6.

I actually hadn't read these until I got it from a book club I signed Gracie up for. You know how you can tell a storyteller has written a fine piece of work? 200 years go by and people (children even) still love them. Gracie loves Aesop's Fables and I find that, obviously, human nature has not changed so much with our indoor bathrooms and mechanical horses because these stories still ring true.

Amazing. Good for all ages.

I enjoyed this. It's a timeless classic that I would recommend to anyone.

Every man carries two bags with him, one in the front and one behind, and both are packed full of faults. The bag in front contains his neighbors' faults, the one behind his own. Hence it is that men do not see their own faults, but never fail to see those of others.

There's not much to say because it was a short book. But reading this, it was pretty cool to see how many of these phrases and sentiments are still around today! There are so many great one-liners, and if you know me, you know I love a great quote. I felt very cultured having finally read this cover to cover

Aesop's Fables are, of course, wonderful. Short tales with morals that are as applicable today as when written. "Better beans and bacon in peace than cakes and ale in fear." Truth.

My favorite childhood book, I still reread the stories from my original copy. I love fables and folktales as a story genre but I really do think Aesop was just one of the best.
