Maybe it’s because I saw the movie first. But I could not get into this book. I felt like the characters weren’t developed like they were in the movie.
I always love the books more than the movies. But this was the opposite. I felt like the movie did a better job, taking its time and developing the characters. Weird, right??

This was a poignant story and a families survival through a very dark time in history. There were some things that I learned about the Holocaust, we so often focus only on the German and Soviet area, but hearing about Brazil and other European countries was interesting. I also liked the ending information about how the story is in honor of her family.
