I enjoy historical fiction and this one did not disappoint. This novel takes place in a variety of places across the globe, all associated in some way or another with WWII.

I think I've read too many WWII novels in recent years. Normally this book would have been added to my favorites list because it's based on real-life events (something this history major loves!), but WWII is starting to be over-written about in novels. The story itself was good, but I was starting to get bored with it and it felt like it took too long to wrap up once the war itself was over.
4.5 stars: this one took me awhile to finish just because of how daunting and heartbreaking it was to read. the Kurc’s family story is truly something else in terms of endurance and hope
