DID NOT FINISH: 46%

It’s cute but it was so boring :( While translation might have been the issue, there didn’t seem to be a plot that I could follow or grow invested in. I usually like books in this genre but this was a disappointment.

i just really hated the writing i felt like a second grader could have written this as a fanfiction. no depth or anything. i'm not sure why people like this book or why it's so popular. not sure if it's an issue with the translator but also i just finished hyunam dong bookshop which is by the same translator and it was much better so i think it's just the book.

I like how the fmc found her purpose through helping others

This was either poorly written or poorly translated but I suspect both.

A lot of this book was very confusing to me, and I think (after reading other reviews) it's a translation issue.  There's a powerful story here, but it never quite breaks through the language barrier.

I wanted to like this more, and I did find it mostly charming and cozy, but I didn't feel as drawn to the characters as I wanted to be. And while I myself can be a bit of a Pollyanna when giving myself a pep talk, I think just telling others if you smile, eventually you'll be happy.  Yup, smiles plaster over trauma or heartbreak. Fortunately, some of the characters took the whole mind cleaning business a little more seriously and used it almost like therapy. Which I do endorse. I think this would have worked more if I had been more in the mood for this? But I'm recovering from Covid and my snark levels are pretty high compared to my Pollyanna levels.
