read this book when i was younger and thought it was amazing, re read it now i’m older and i honestly don’t know why i thought that lol. don’t get me wrong i love a cliche story but you can definitely tell it came from wattpad, maybe if i could give 2.5 stars i would.

2,5*
So, this book was written by a 17-year old, and it shows. It is cute in a way and an effortless read. If you’re looking for something like that: dig in.
I guess I might be just a bit too old to read about a 16-year old waiting for her first kiss and the drama around highschool life, so maybe that’s that.
I do think, though, that Elle is making a bit of a scene of everything (puberty?). Always and always denying her feelings for Noah, even after sleeping with him gets old pretty fast. I don’t see why it's such a big drama that she is hooking up with the older brother of her best friend, either. Lee sort of acts like she is giving their friendship up, which is not the case at all, and actually HE is the one spending less time with her due to his new girlfriend. Additionally, Noah gets portrayed as this “bad boy” which - he is on the one side - but he apologizes to Elle for mistreating even though he never really mistreated her in my opinion. All he does is call her gorgeous and love her and that's way more than I ever got out of a relationship, so calm down Elle :D :D
While writing this I actually noticed everything that bugged me about the story.

whew this book was BAD ACTUALLY

and like Beth sweetie I'm not mad at you for writing this when you were 15, I'm mad at Random House for apparently just publishing the whole thing straight from Wattpad and not making any editorial enhancements?! Or if they did....not enough of them?! I was really hoping this would be fun but it was just tedious!! Bleh!!

The only substantial character was icon Rachel. She was a girlboss and the only reason I said the characters were loveable <3

I wanted to love this book, I really did. And if I’d only read the outline, I think I would’ve. Unfortunately, the characters are infuriating hella “woke” 10% of the time, totally ignorant and cliche the rest of the time.

I actually picked this up because I quite enjoyed the Netflix adaptation and assumed there would be more meat to the story in the book (as is often the case). I was disappointed to find that the only thing you get more of in the book is cringeworthy dialogue and supremely uncomfortable exchanges disguised as romance.
