I have a rule that if a book unironically says “ample bosom” they’re docked a point.
This book was painfully predictable and boring up until about 60 pages before the end. I kept reading thinking there was going to be a twist I wasn’t expecting, and there was but it wasn’t worth it.

Home before dark is the first Riley Sager novel that I’ve read. I added it to my TBR shelf in 2020 after seeing so many updates and reviews from people reading it. It seemed to have a whole lot of hype around it and I’ve been keen to read it ever since.
Definitely not disappointed. Home before dark offers a good old fashioned haunted house tale and is told by both Maggie Holt in the present day and her dad, Ewan Holt, through his book The House of Horrors.
Riley Sager does an excellent job of weaving the story together and the way he weaves between the present and past works well.
A slightly hurried ending for my liking and kind of disappointing in a way. I had different expectations how the novel might end. All in all a great intro to Sager’s writing and genre style.

A super fun and addictive read, and even though I didn't have a lot of time to read over the past few weeks, whenever I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. I need to read some older Riley Sager books.

Started off well and I was intrigue but it just got silly and the twists/reveals made me roll my eyes a bit. I think I won't pick up this author again.
