Really good, twists until the end, and the ending was completely unexpected
Well then…
So I kinda figured out the protagonist/antagonist pretty early on. But there were a lot of details that I didn’t predict & it was definitely twisty. Great book. Kept me on my toes the whole time!

I tend to be non-mainstream as far as my book taste is concerned. It was proven again.
This book was recommended to me in a Thriller Lover group, where the book was advertised as gripping psychological thriller, which you cannot put down. I was hardly able to finish the book. My first and last book from Tess Stimson.
My review: ⭐⭐ star, broke down below.
PLOT 4⭐ a cardiac surgeon in the suburb of London, UK with troubled past wants to buy her dream house , the "GLASSHOUSE" by any means. For that she puts her home on the mark to finance the Glasshouse. Her house is the dream of a YouTuber couple, where the wife intends to get the second house no matter what. A house chain process is the initiator of the suspense and brings together 3 families. There is a reason why the owners and bidders should not know each other personally..
The idea behind the story itself is not a bad one!! It could have been the best thriller book! However, the writing style ruined the whole book for me. It was a very slow and boring book for my taste - full of unnecessary details
WRITING STYLE 1⭐
Tess Stimson`s writing style did not fulfil my expectations at any level. The suspense and excitement to turn the pages to read more to get more were missing - which should belong to the genre. The dialogs were rudimentary, there were too many narrative parts, where I had the feeling that the author need to reach a certain amount of characters for her publisher/editor. I had the impression that the vlogging style parts were written by a 4th grader.
The mainline is described from the perspective of the main characters. The problem was that the parts (vlogging style, flash backs, some kind of interview from the future perspective and the characters` PoVs ) did not come together and were not coherent.
The too many unnecessary details about a surgery or house Mile appliances did not add any value to the story or character development in the most cases.
One small example on one unnecessarily too detailed part to gain character numbers for the editor..
"first expose the aorta and pulmonary arteries, and perform multiple cardiovascular cannulations in order to initiate a cardiopulmonary bypass. Transect the arteries and resect them together with a small patch of aorta. Implant the coronary arteries to the neo-aorta, formerly the main pulmonary artery, and witch the transected great vessels. Then shift the proximal transected pulmonary trunk posterior to the branch pulmonary arteries and patch the proximal transected aorta... " and it goes on and on and on. And it comes up so many times.
ENDING/TWIST 1⭐
The plot is artificially forged to such an extent, that the reader is able to anticipate the ending from the half of the books. I knew from the middle of the book what is the goal of the author with the specific characters. Slow and too "artificial" book for me.
FAVOURITE QUOTES AND TAKEAWAYS: there is indeed one quote which I liked and sums up my opinion on nowadays` exaggerated body positivity which leads to several serious diseases.
Being obese is not fun, it is a hazard for the body! - It has NOTHING to do with the plot though.. total sidenote.
"I pull up the patient`s chart on my computer, she is a 52 year old woman who came to me about 5 months ago complaining with dizziness and shortness of breath, neither of which were surprising given she was at least 40 pounds overweight. (...) But as a heart surgeon I know there is not such a thing FAT BUT FIT either. Healthy obesity is a myth propagated by laudable body positivity culture that is unfortunately missing the point: fitness is the body`s ability - and specifically the ability of the lean tissue, or muscle to take in and use oxygen. Which means it is really all about your heart and lungs. You may get away with those extra rolls around your waist at thirty, but by fifty your heart is exhausted from all the extra work it has to do."
