This was a financial thriller set in India. I didn't understand a good chunk of the financial/banking stuff, so my boredom was mostly due to that. However, I did think there were too many characters and a lot of unnecessary repetition when it came to the climax of the story.

On one hand we have a young banker, found dead a day after she ousts a large-scale financial fraud. On the other hand we have a respected and prominent corporate man fall to his death from his flat. Then there is the issue of hacking of the servers of a multinational accounting firm. Fraudster brings together the elements of greed, corruption, scams and murder in one past paced book.

The plot of the novel is genuinely interesting and takes a grip on you from the very beginning. For those of you mystery lovers, who like to play the who-dunnit game, you will have ample opportunity to do so. The author hides all the clues to the perpetrator right out in the open and it is for the readers to pick up the hints. In itself, the plot is a very straightforward one, but as a reader we come to the conclusion only at the end when everything is finally revealed. But the author takes us for a ride throughout the book right till the climax. The characters are well fleshed out and very distinctive from each other. Each character has something to add to the story and so do not underestimate any of them.

The author narrates the story with a certain flair that compliments the plot and helps build the grit of the story. Crisp language and straightforward approach of storytelling again adds to the overall book. A very gritty and interesting mystery that is a must read for all mystery lovers.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Fraudster is a person who commits fraud, especially in business dealings and RV Raman gives us a set of them, though the title suggests otherwise, of the highest degree. One should sit tight and hold their breath as he takes us on the ride full of thrills.

While the book is full of financial jargon which might take some time for the reader to get used to as Raman offers the helping hand to guide through this genius plot of his. But his red herrings become apparent to the readers as it is not well concealed by the author. Also some characters are thrown on the face of readers which comes across as last minute attempt to tie the tale leaving behind few ends loose.

Nevertheless, Raman weaves a web of deceit which is quite gripping and is worth a read.

This book is just unputdownable! I pulled an all nighter to complete this and I remembered the last time I did something like that was only for Angels and Demons!!

This book has everything great going for it. A very authentic banking sector premise, believable characters, taut narration, unexpected twists and turns and a deception that no one sees coming. Really, what else do you need?

There's almost zero pandering/spoon-feeding to the crowd; the author makes the reader decipher the clues along with the protagonists. I'm just happy that an Indian author is able to do that.

To conclude, all I would say is JUST GO AND READ THIS!!!
