Book one of the Mediator series. This was a fast, fun, easy read. More action than world and character building. The main character is Suze, and the story is from her POV. It was first written in 2000, and there were plenty of things that were nostalgic in this story. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Shadowland was a great start to a series. I loved Suze especially learning about her abilities. Her interactions with the ghosts often had me laughing at how physical she got with them. Suze was definitely a scrapper that wasn't backing down from anything. I also liked how she took care of most of the problems herself. Jesse was a great character and I hope to see more of him in future books in the series.

Easy, breezy, fun read. Exactly the kind of YA story I loved in high school and college (and still do).
A light, enjoyable YA paranormal with an interesting heroine. Meg Cabot tends to litter her books with cultural references, so at the age of 22 there were times when it felt a bit dated. But I liked the paranormal world she built - it was uncomplicated but worked for me. Since the series is available from the library, I can see myself continuing it when I want something light and fairly predictable. And there are times when that can be a comfort read.
It's been a few years since I have reread this series. I am looking forward to rereading this with number seven! I haven't reread number seven yet.

I don’t think it’s possible to be objective about a book that you carry nostalgia for. I remember eating this us in sixth grade and I did exactly the same in my reread. I don’t think the writing is particularly great and there actually isn’t much plot, but the vibes just couldn’t be better. I’m excited to read the other books in the series.

Well narrated
A cute YA paranormal story and a good introduction to the series.
I liked the protagonist and though she is far from perfect (thinks all 3 boys she meets are cute), she is protective of those she cares about.
I look forward to continuing this series.
