Very fun read. Just re-read it for the first time since middle school, and the humor held up as well as I expected. This series will always be warm, comfortable, and nostalgic for me.

This series was one of my favorites as a teenager, and I wanted to reread them to see how I feel about them now. I was very pleasantly surprised, I still love these books nearly as much as I did years ago.
The story is amazing, it’s light and fun and looking at it now I can see how each book has a monster of the week vibe, and I think it’s fun to discover how Suze is going to deal with the ghosts. The characters are another amazing aspect. I had completely forgotten about Father Dom, and was shocked by how awesome he was. I love the family dynamic, and how the family is represented. They aren’t the evil stepfather and stepbrothers that you might expect, and it’s great to see such a strong family, and watch how Suze grows to care about them as time passes. The only parts that I think could bring a bit more to this story would be if her friends were a bit more developed, because they’re interesting, but not in the story too much, so we don’t get a chance to really know them. Another downside is that looking at Suze now, she’s a bit annoying. I think the first time I read these books I loved Suze and thought she was the coolest thing ever, but now looking at her she’s a little immature and self centered. How she reacts in certain situations is a little ridiculous, but even though I find it a little annoying, I know it wouldn’t be the same story without Suze being who she is.
Overall, I love this book, and I can’t wait to reread the rest.

Susannah Simon has just moved across the country to live with her mother, her new stepdad, and her three stepbrothers. She loves the town of Carmel and the Pacific Ocean, but she has MAJOR problems with the house. Particularly as there is a very hot ghost sharing her new bedroom with her.
Suze is a mediator. She sees ghosts and tries to help them move on to the next life by helping them complete a task. Sometimes, however, she is forced to resort to violence. And violence and force will turn out to be everything as she deals with her most vicious ghost yet at her new school: Heather, who committed suicide when her boyfriend broke up with her.
Heather is determined to do anything to regain her old life, and she thinks Suze is taking over her rightful place at school. Heather’s increasingly violent nature forces Suze to reluctantly make plans for an exorcism, something that she never likes to do, and something that she hopes Jesse will stay away from, no matter how much he doesn’t want her to do it.
Meg Cabot’s excellent MEDIATOR series has a catchy start in this first book. Suze is a character, and Jesse the quintessential “perfect man.” Suze’s interesting interactions with the people in her life will amuse readers for the whole entire series. I highly recommend these books.

I really liked this book quite a lot. Cabot has a way of creating likable characters and combining it with an adequate plot and a fast pace. I finished the book in less than a day and have book two beside me now. A definite home run.
This was a very cute book. After mourning the end of the Princess Diaries series (I have yet to read #11, but it's the end of the high school series), I needed more Meg Cabot in my life. I'm obsessed with the tv show Ghost Whisperer and this book was right up my alley. The main character is pretty bad ass and it was fun watching her deal with the ghosts. Trust me, she's no Melinda Gordon. I had one little issue though. . Another issue I have with Meg Cabot in general is that her books have a pretty short time period. This one was a little bit better but with Princess Mia, I felt like she checked in every hour. But, anyway, I am already in the second book and I can't wait to see what other shenanigans Suze and her ghosts get into.
