He does it again! Another great WMC book! This wasn’t my favorite, but I like it better than the last couple. The case was so-so but there was a lot of courtroom + Yuki action which I love!

The writing is good. I'm just not a fan of the main topic. I wanted to continue to follow the main characters so I can finish the series and have them make sense as to character development. Others may be fascinated, I was not.
I've loved this series since I first read The 5th Horseman in sixth grade back in 2007. However, the past few books in the series have seemed a bit rushed and somewhat lackluster to me. This latest installment, though, is better. I enjoyed the unusual rape case, despite its ultimate conclusion. I really liked Lindsay's empathy, passion and drive in attempting to give murdered homeless people the respect and attention they deserve. While I doubt that The 5th Horseman will ever be knocked out of my #1 James Patterson book slot, The 17th Suspect is a solid entry in the Women's Murder Club series. Now, to wait a year, and find out what will happen
because of Lindsay's anemia and Joe's new job, as their daughter continues to grow
.
I think it is more nostalgia that keeps me reading Patterson, the books may be pretty formulatic but I want to see what happens next with Boxer and Alex Cross but this one was decent. While a little obvious, I enjoyed this one as a quick read. It had a good mix of the characters, some actual development with them and the crimes were interesting enough.

The 17th Suspect
Women’s Murder Club, Book 17
I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.
Media Type: Audiobook
Source: CC Public Library
Dates Read: 7/17/23 - 7/19/23
Stars: 4
The Characters:
Lindsay Boxer: Police detective
Clair Washburn: Medical Examiner
Yuki Castellano: Attorney
Cindy Thomas: Crime desk reporter
The Story:
I enjoyed spending more time with Yuki. I like that our supporting characters are enjoying some time in the spotlight without their lives being in danger. It was also nice to get a peek into her relationship with Jackson. They both have very demanding jobs that can’t be easy to juggle.
Changes are coming for this series. I'm not sure if I am scared or excited. Maybe a bit of both. The ending of this was very tidy. I almost get the feeling our writers didn't know if another book would come. Fortunately, it did and I'm looking forward to it.
