As this series continues I am definitely getting more invested in the characters and different storylines. At first I wasn’t a fan of the multiple storylines at once, but at this point I am enjoying each of them. It was a bit difficult at times to get through this book because the separation between Slade and Auren was painful and I just wanted them back together. Since their romantic relationship is one of my favorite parts of these books, a whole book without it felt dragging at times. It also felt predictable for me, like I could tell what was about to happen way before it happened, so there was no element of surprise. But I am excited about how the plot is coming along and I can’t wait to see what happens in the last book in the series.

I was a tad pissed when I realized they wouldn’t be back together, but we got a full background and history and what an ending. On to the final one.
[b:Gold|61314205|Gold (The Plated Prisoner, #5)|Raven Kennedy|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1679863754l/61314205._SY75_.jpg|96663783] by [a:Raven Kennedy|18343962|Raven Kennedy|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1611350262p2/18343962.jpg] felt like one of those necessary “bridge books” in a series—the kind I like to call a filler with a purpose. You can’t have non-stop chaos and cliffhangers (well, you can, but our poor hearts need a break), and this installment definitely took its time laying the groundwork.
While it didn’t grip me quite like the first four books—except for that last hour (of the audiobook) , which was chef’s kiss—it still served an important role: setting the stage for what’s clearly going to be an epic finale. Kennedy is no doubt playing the long game, and I’m here for it. Bring on book six—I’m ready for the fireworks.

Another solid instalment of the plated prisoner series. I am a sucker for multiple POVs and Gold has the most out of the series so far.
Firstly, Melina's character arc. I am so here for it. All it took was a shadow daddy(!) to give her some tough love, both verbally and in an alleyway, and she became the hero of the whole story so far. The one spicy scene in the book was fantastically written - 'I am your god' 🤤
I liked that Slade and Auren were separated the whole book - urgh, hello?ITS A FATED MATES TROPE
Slade's revenge rampage tour was just fantastic. The detail of his rotting power is so well written. With every book I read he's cementing himself as my absolute favourite MMC of all time.
The ending had me wanting to throw the book across the room. Auren finally discoveringthat she has family and having that taken away: agony.
I cannot wait for the final instalment but do not want this to end. 😭
