What a treat to listen to Congressman John Lewis at the end of his remarkable life as he gives his thoughts and advice on everything from gay marriage to the environment to living a life with purpose. He asks, "What truth do you believe so strongly that you are willing to die for it?" I am still thinking on that one. I listened to the audio which is read by Don Cheadle and it was delightful.

John Lewis' reflections are a salve to modern day hatred and division. He provides candor, love, and perspective in this book. The audio version is well produced, and read by Don Cheadle.

I personally felt this book did not represent John Lewis at his best. These heavily edited interview excerpts rendered John Lewis's complex and poignant philosophy into pleasant yet impotent soundbites. I feel that Lewis's wisdom lives on in interviews and other book projects.

This slim collection compiles a series of essays that Congressman Lewis wrote shortly before he passed away in 2020. With his straight forward, unadorned way of speaking, he shares his thoughts on a variety of topics in a profound way that will cause you to reflect. Some of the stories he shares in this collection were familiar from having read his memoir [b:Walking with the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement|59612297|Walking with the Wind A Memoir of the Movement|John Lewis|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1636839242l/59612297._SY75_.jpg|28164], but I enjoyed being reminded of them and marveling again about how he made such a positive and profound impact on the course of U.S. history. While this is still much work to do, reading his words will undoubtedly give you hope and encouragement to continue to fight the good fight and to get into some "good trouble" of your own.

he looks up to Ghandi and that’s why I didn’t give the book 5 stars considering heinous acts Ghandi did to children. Also ignores that ableism and bigotry against the LGBT still exists after marriage equality
