This book was just simply not good. The false marketing was actually crazy to call this book a second chance romance is actually pushing it because this was insta love (aka one of the worst tropes) with basically a third act breakup. Her friends were irrelevant and terrible. There were so many random storylines popping up here and there I felt like I was playing one of those whack a mole games trying to weed out the bs and finish this book. By the end it felt like even the author was sick of this book with all of those random ass flash forwards. I throughly regret reading this book and by the end I was skimming BUT I did finish it so I’ll give it at least a two stars BARELY

This book has taken the spot of my favorite SL Scott book. Harbour and Lark are two amazing characters, you can feel their love come off the pages. SL's writing is so beautiful and descriptive, it is like you are right there with the characters, seeing what they see and feeling all that they feel. Harbour's actions and the love and then heartbreak that follow can be felt deep in your soul. The love felt real, the angst felt real and then so did the forgiveness. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, and I loved every minute of it. These two were truly meant to be together and their love story is one I'll hold closely.

"For a moment in time, I'm captivated by the look in his eyes - one that says he could be the one to really heal me, to piece the remnants of my shattered past back together, giving me the chance to be whole again"

"Lark is the "different" I didn't know I needed in my life, the change I never saw coming, the breath of fresh air"

"We aren't temporary, baby. We're the real thing"

Swear on My Life is a low angst, deep dive love story.

I like the Westcotts - I get kind of tired of all the rich people in books being uppity jerks. I KNOW there are good hearted wealthy people out there, and the Westcotts are the best.

Harbor Westcott led a charmed, yet difficult life. A tragic event changes his life trajectory. He sees Lark Summerlin in class and immediately knows he needs to get to know her.

Lark has it all - beauty, personality, heart, brains. The only thing she doesn't have is money. She doesn't want Harbor's family money, she just wants him.

The angst comes as Lark graduates college - when Harbor disappears without a word of explanation. The reader knows why though - and it's just a little matter of 4 years of medical school and into the 1st year of residency before we get to the resolution of the story.

This is a love story between two people who will never be completely whole without the other person in their life. He is the key to her heart, she is the last piece of the puzzle to his. Separately, they are just surviving. Together, they thrive.

I think that SL Scott's writing gets better with each book. The basic formula is similar, but I love that most of the disagreements between the lovers is resolved quickly because they always seem to know that communication and honesty are the keys to happiness. I'm looking forward to the next release.

I enjoyed this book until i didn’t (~30% in).

What i liked:
- the FMC and MMC in the beginning
- their families

What i didn‘t like:
- for me these 500 pages were boring. The relationship was boring. He wasn‘t really a bad boy. Maybe in the past but you don‘t get that in the present. There is some talk and there were some conversations about his past but that was that
- their relationship was too fast and too insta lovey. I didn’t feel angst at all. They had some differences about meanless or little issues but resolved them at the same moment. Some times i just thought: this discussions are childish
- amanda and dean: were they really best friends to the FMC?
- when he left and the years (!) until they reconnected. There was no groveling, no more about why he left or what he did in this time. She accepted it and that was that…

This book was recommended to me as a starting point to S.L. Scott's books, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really liked both Lark and Harbor. Their love story happened very fast and I thought, quite often, that there couldn't be much more to the story. I was wrong. ;)

This was a good read and a good start starting point for anyone wanting to read Suzie's book.

Audible listen narrated by Jacob Morgan and Ava Erickson.

As a second chance romance, it’s very heavy on the backstory and that kinda feels like I was cheated the adult relationship not just between Lark and Harbor but with Lark and her mother.

Lark is far too young for a love like that, I don’t mean age wise. Her thoughts are so quick to jump to the worst case scenario. So much drama with her ‘best friend’. These friends of hers just suck. She’s clearly unbothered by Harbor’s very real fear, ugh! Whatever kind of medical doctor she becomes, I wouldn’t want her to be mine.

Harbor’s parents see how young they are and have to give tough love. Would they have made it that young and naïve if his wealthy parents had helped the way he begged them to? They saw the pain she was in and just let it happen. He left just when she needed him so very much.

So much stuff to sift through. I don’t know how all of these people are so forgiving. Betrayal runs very deep for me so the concept is hard to grasp. I HATED the time jump. Semi-5 years in all yet still thinking like a high schooler and using his money. They aren’t sleeping around? Wait….he HAD to do that?!

This book has been super frustrating and frustration a 5 star review doesn’t make. I love angst, not stupidity. Ava and Jacob were stellar as always.

Unbearably poorly written.
