It was entertaining, but the child prodigy and magic Golden Retriever combo is exhausting. Also please learn about female anatomy and how nipples work before trying that nonsense again. And no more autistic characters. Argh.

Koontz was one of the first authors I read as I was entering into adulthood many moons ago. Returning to his writing after more than a 20 year hiatus is like drinking a cup of coffee and snuggling into a blanket on a cold day, its cozy and soothing.

What can I say about this book? Dogs that can communicate telepathically, if only that was real. I keep asking my dogs if they were on The Wire, and they wouldn't even look me in the eye...so maybe...

This is also the second book I've read in a short amount of time about the horrors of human gene modification, and even though Koontz did not have a huge scientific explanation for how this came to be in his novel, it's still food for thought.

Overall, I enjoyed it. And no dogs were harmed in the making of this book, which is of the utmost importance.

This would have been a great book at half the length but the over describing and tiny chapters flitting between the various characters really slowed the momentum down and made what was a good ending too drawn out.

I absolutely loved the first 100 pages or so of “Devoted.” Dean is excellent at describing the characteristics of Autism, and there were genuinely thrilling moments. However, the book started to drag and I did not like the ending. It wrapped up too nicely, and I actually rolled my eyes when the dog owners linked hands and became part of the “wire.” Not a terrible book by any means, just okay when stacked up with Koontz’s other novels.

What an intellectually bankrupt and unbelievable piece of garbage! Read a chapter for an example of purple prose. Otherwise, nah.

DID NOT FINISH: 1%

Couldn't get past the incorrect and offensive autistic "representation." I lasted 5 pages.

I enjoyed the many well developed characters and intriguing storylines. This is a book you can read on a plane, on the beach or anywhere you have downtime. You will find humour, mild horror, and a cheesy yet heartwarming story. I know I would love to live in this new world that is dreamed at the end of the book. Forgive my bias for anything with Golden Retrievers.

Is it great literature....not really, but it is an enjoyable escapade to sit and enjoy.
