This was a good follow up to the first book. I did feel like Kiara and Jude glossed over the fact that Jude left so that might have been good to explore more. The ending with Kiara giving up her powers also didn't feel like the usual heroine gives up her powers...she never liked them so I think it made sense in her character to do so.

I feel a hollowness in my body now that i have finished this. To Kill a Shadow was my first physical arc I actually read from work and now that I’m leaving there soon it is now something I treasure. Going onto the book and freaking out!!!! I am FLOORED. LIKE I need a mop with vinegar and cleaner to get rid of all my tears. The conclusion. MWAH~ The struggle to two characters have and the selflessness they have for one another. I YEARN!!! Ik in stores this is a YA fantasy but this doesn’t read juvenile in any way and I would recommend to any fantasy reader. There is a bit a romance but if you don’t mind that the magic and gods system is something that I just adore and find refreshing in the fantasy realm of reading as a whole.

This book was a definite improvement over the first half of the duology. I really liked the found family on a quest feel to it (Jake especially has my whole heart lol). The plot started feeling a bit disjointed about 70ish percent through, almost like she was trying to pack too many trials into what time she had. But it eventually came out of it and ended up wrapping up loose ends nicely. I also really enjoyed the narrators. So while it's not my favorite fantasy book series ever, it was definitely worth the read.

This was a really enjoyable duology. Lots of action, adventure, lore, and a journey to go on. Certainly underrated in my opinion.
Book 2 was just as great as the first 1. What I like about this is our characters communicate even when their doubts and fears are at the forefront.
