Since i officially consider myself a cat lady now - or at least a cat appreciating person lol - i had to grab this when i saw it in the bookstore. Finde die Rückseite noch cuter als das Cover.

It‘s really short but really simple-cute and i liked that. What you see is what you get: a calming, cute little cat-cat-owner story bzw. a few of these which intertwine, that‘s cute.

„She spent almost all the time in bed with her eyes closed and slept as much as we cats do. Where she was different to a cat was that she often wept. …I didn‘t even know why Aoi was so sad. I sometimes cried because I missed Mama, but I wasn‘t sad all the time like she was. It was depressing to see her like that. I spent the first winter of my life mostly holding my breath in that room.“

This book is extremely wholesome. It is 4 short stories of cats that live in the same town and how they become friends and how through their cat antics their owners all meet and become friends and develop relationships. Each story is written in both perspectives of each cat and their owners. I really enjoyed the addition of the dog being the wise overseer of all of the town cats and how his character helped to intertwine all of their stories.

I typically love the Japanese cat-centric fiction, but the dialogue was too cringey/unrealistic for me, and the way the male author wrote his woman character did not resonate with me.

I hate the writing so much. The sentences are so short and simple, and I seriously cannot get past it.
