She and her cat follow four women and four cats who are all loosely connected. Overall, I enjoyed the book and found the parallels between the cats and their humans sweet. I found myself extending additional gratitude to my own cats. I found
myself tearful when mimi admitted she was Reina’s cat. I noticed when reading the epub that there was a line missing so I do want to go back to the physical copy and see if there were other lines missing. Which might bump this to a 4.5 star read.
Like with most Japanese lit I've read, I found myself connecting with the characters and stories, but I often wonder what I miss through translation. I think if I were able to read Japanese, I would miss less connections or clever wordplay. Regardless it won't stop me from reading them.
