In theory, this book should have been a perfect match for me. It’s about cats and their owners (adorable). But despite the premise, it left me utterly disappointed :(

The writing was bland, failing to bring any of the stories to life. The characters had zero personality, making it difficult to connect with or care about them. Each story attempted to explore a different theme, but without compelling prose or engaging characters, those themes fell flat.

I wanted adorable, heartwarming tales about cats, and that book was not it.
emotional hopeful fast-paced

This was such a wholesome book. I really enjoyed it and my only issue was how confusing the book was to follow. It was easy to figure out which narrator was the cat and human but there were multiple POVs in the book. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable story.

A lovely, relaxing and quick read that covers a range of topics as the cats help their owners to live more happily. The illustrations are beautiful too and add to the story. A warm and inviting read that is cheerful and light

"She and Her Cat: Stories" feels like a cozy hug in book form. It’s a bunch of short, heartwarming stories about people dealing with loneliness, heartbreak, and all the little ups and downs of life—always with their cats sticking by them. What’s cool is how it switches between the human and cat perspectives, showing how much they get and comfort each other, even without words.

If you’ve ever enjoyed anime like The Cat Returns, A Whisker Away, or The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today, you’ll probably vibe with this book.

The writing is simple, but it hits you right in the feels. It doesn’t try too hard to be emotional; it just is. These cats aren’t just pets—they’re friends, healers, and quiet witnesses to everything their humans go through.

This book is for anyone who loves thoughtful, emotional stories, cat lover or not. It’s such a good reminder of how even the smallest connections can make a difference when things get rough. Actually, it's for anyone who’s ever needed a companion to remind them they’re not alone! Plus, it’s so easy to read, you might just devour it in one sitting.
