felt more like a long and windy essay that wasn’t quite sure where it wanted to go but pretty interesting ! included a bunch of unconnected sections on the importance of silence or how it’s “used” (the classical music and performance art sections were cool tbf) but i most liked the parts where Kagge talked about his own experiences with silence — his trek to the south pole, friends on mt everest, conversations with his daughters — and wanted more of that
Kagge’s enthusiasm about mindfulness and making time to look inward felt a little Much at times but i did come away wanting to find quiet a bit more, and the audiobook starting and ending with silence was a nice touch
“catching small fish, taking small bites. allow the world to vanish when you go into it”

To me, this isn't so much an exploration of silence but more of a collection of personal experiences and gathered stories that Kagge takes inspiration from regarding the benefits of silence, although some of them don't actually hit the mark and in a few cases show the opposite. There are some experiences / sections that do make you think, not always about the benefits of silence but at least they make you think. Best read by skim reading and pulling out the bits that you are drawn to rather than trying to read every single word.
Basically just a collection of notes, but still an inspiring read in the subject of silence. One of my highlights for 2018 already.
A quick read that went well with my reading on stoicism. It's mostly snippets of journal entries and random thoughts during Kagge's journeys about silence, within and without. This helped me really ponder what it means to be in a world of noise and find silence.
