I really enjoyed this one! Eric was an awesome character and I really like getting to know Jean as well. I read the first book in this series, somehow missed the second, but then read this one. I do need to go back and read book 2, but this is my fave out of books 1 and 3.
I pretty much adored Eric right from the start. I get that he’s a player, and I get that he’s not seen as dependable, and I probably need to read book 2 in order to understand that a bit more, but the inner thoughts from his side, particularly when Nell was laying into him, really made me feel for him. I honestly wanted to slap Nell upside the head so many times!
Eric was a natural with Ada and was just so fitting with Jean. They were so easy together. I love a good friends to lovers story, and this one is pretty much that, because they take so long getting to know each other and being friends, before they finally realise what everyone else can see, about how they feel about one another.
This just had a really natural feel to the development of both of their characters and their relationship as a whole. They were both great, and I really loved Eric. His inner dialogue had me giggling to myself at times.
We also get other loved characters back in this one which of course is always fab.
Overall a fantastic and fast read, and I need to go back and read book 2. And looking forward to more from this series!

Eric Collins ist wohl das was man einen Bad Boy nennt. Frauen sind sein Hobby und keine landet zweimal in seinen Bett und das Wort Beziehung kennt sein Wortschatz nicht. Doch auch wenn er eine Bar führt nehmen seine Freunde in teils nicht ernst, da seine Arbeitsmoral manchmal etwas locker ist. Er denkt nach einer besonderen Auseinandersetzung über sein Leben nach und ändert es. Und dann tritt Jean in sein Leben und stellt es noch viel mehr auf den Kopf. Schafft er sich zu Ändern oder geht er zurück zu alten Gewohnheiten.
An sich mochte ich die Bücher von der Autorin bisher, aber leider konnte mich hier so gar nix überzeugen. Das Setting fand ich noch interessant, da es eher ungewöhnlich war. Es war mein erstes Buch der Drive Bar Serie. Und bin mir noch nicht sicher ob ich die anderen auch lesen werde.
Eric kommt wie jemand rüber, der so gar keine Ahnung von seinen Leben hat und sobald Gespräche mal was tiefsinniger werden ist er verwirrt. So richtig als Bad Boy kommt er auch nicht rüber, klar es wird beschrieben er schläft gern mit Frauen, aber unter einen Bad Boy verstehe ich noch paar andere Sachen. Vielleicht wollte hier diesmal nicht das typische Klischee verwendet werden, aber so ganz hat dies auch nicht funktioniert.
Mit Jean konnte ich auch nicht so richtig was anfangen, zu glatt zu verständnisvoll. Irgendwie keine richtigen Ecken und Kanten.
Die Nebencharaktere gingen so, der Bruder Joe und seine Freundin Alex fand ich da noch am sympathischsten. Nell ging für mich gar nicht, zu viel Vorurteil, da hat sich mir zwischenzeitlich die Frage gestellt wie da überhaupt Freundschaft existieren kann. Vorgeschichte hin oder her.
Fazit.

Inhalt: In dem dritten und letzten Band der "Dive Bar" Reihe von Kylie Scott, geht es um Eric und Jean. Er ist ein Frauenheld und liebt Onenightstands. Eines Tages taucht Jean in seiner Bar auf. Er fühlt sich sofort von ihr angezogen. Das Problem ist, dass sie schwanger ist. Eric weiß, dass er sich von ihr fernhalten sollte. Da sie seine Nachbarin und gleichzeitig eine Freundin von einer Freundin von ihm ist, gestaltet sich das schwer. Hinzukommt, die Anziehungskraft zu Jean.
Meinung: Das Cover gefällt mir bis auf das Männergesicht gut. Vom optischen her passt es perfekt zu den ersten beiden Bänden der "Dive Bar"-Reihe. Die rot und schwarze Schrift gefällt mir sehr gut. Der Schreibstil ist wie immer toll. Auch dieser Band spiegelt den guten Humor der Autorin wieder. Es gibt einige Szenen bei denen man lachen und schmunzeln muss. Zugegebenermaßen gibt es auch ein paar kleine Stellen, die sich etwas ziehen, aber diese sind kaum vorhanden. Die Geschichte wird aus Erics Sicht erzählt. Am Anfang war dies etwas ungewohnt, aber ich habe mich schnell daran gewöhnt. Ich finde es mutig und toll, dass die Autorin diese Erzählperspektive das komplette Buch beibehalten hat. Meistens liest man ja hauptsächlich aus der Sicht von den weiblichen Protagonistinnen oder aus der Sicht von beiden. Bei dieser Geschichte hat es mich überhaupt nicht gestört, dass es nur aus Erics Perspektive erzählt wird.
Eric hat mir wirklich toll gefallen. Seine lustige und etwas unbeholfene Art waren wirklich süß. Man kann verstehen, warum er so auf Jean und ihre Schwangerschaft reagiert. Durch seine sarkastische und selbstironische Art wird sein Charakter nochmal gut unterstrichen.
Jean war mir von Anfang an sympathisch. Ihre Geschichte und Verhalten kamen sehr glaubwürdig rüber. Ich hatte das Gefühl als würde sie sich wirklich wie eine alleinerziehende Mutter benehmen. In wenigen Momenten hatte man das Bedürfnis etwas mehr aus ihrer Sicht zu erfahren, aber es war nicht wirklich nötig und Eric als Protagonist meistert die Aufgabe erfolgreich alleine.
Ihre Tochter ist einfach nur Zucker. Man kann sie einfach nur lieben.
Jeans Eltern waren mir unsympathisch, aber ich denke, dass das beabsichtigt war. Trotzdem konnte ich am Ende auch ihre Wünsche verstehen.
Erics Freunde haben mir nicht wirklich gefallen. Wahre Freunde würden ihn mehr unterstützen und an ihn glauben. Besonders eine ist besonders negativ herausgestochen. Ich hoffe einfach mal, dass es an ihren Hormonen lag.
Ich habe die vorherigen Bände nicht gelesen, weswegen es anfangs ein bisschen schwierig war den Durchblick bei den Freunden, Partner und ihre Aufgaben in der Bar zu behalten. Das hat sich aber schnell wieder gelegt. Man muss also nicht zwingend die ersten Bände gelesen haben. Man darf sich auch auf ein kleines Wiedersehen mit den Protagonisten aus Kylie Scotts "Stage Dive"-Reihe freuen.

Poor Eric, he's such a manwhore and wants to change his ways. Jean catches his eye until she stands up and reveals a surprise. We watched him become an instant birth partner with hilarious results. I loved his interactions with this little girl, we watched him grow up and take responsibility. Will his friendship with Jean become more? I enjoyed watching this story unfold, it started slow then took off and I couldn't put it down. Well done Ms Scott, another entertaining read.
I liked Eric - and I think getting the book from his POV really helped with because while I didn't dislike Jean I also never really felt like I got to know her. Nell was horrible. Sure I get Eric let her down but the way she carried on it was like he we was solely responsible for knocking her up (they were both drunk when they had a one night stand), then murdered the baby. Granted it has been awhile since I read the book but I don't think he was responsible for the baby's loss - Nell was in a car accident and Eric was not the one driving.
4.5!! Honestly, this was my least favorite but was still 4.5, that should tell you all you need to know, it's Kylie Scott after all. I love this big cast of characters and it was great that Stagedive made an appearance. I'm curious as to what's next in this world though. Eric and Jean were pretty cool.

Eric took a long time to grow on me. I don't know that it was a positive that this entire book was in his POV. It made his previous manwhore status even more cringy. But, to balance that out, his attraction and dedication to Jean was sweet. My favorite thing was his love for Jean's daughter. I also felt bad for how Nell couldn't let go of his past and gave him such a hard time. Overall, this was good but not great. I like the Stage Dive books/characters better.

And as part owner and bartender of The Dive Bar, that last one is the only thing useful.
After the tumultuous events of the last year and a half, he's tried to clean up his act a little. But, he's saddened and exhausted by the disappointed looks and low expectations he still gets from family and friends. Feed up with the flack they constantly give him; he decides to do something. Celibacy.
Then he lays eyes on Jean. His perfect woman.
Seven months pregnant, starting over and moving on from disapproving family, Jean moves above the bar to be close to her friend, Nell. Spying her at a table on her first visit to The Dive Bar where Nell works as a chef, Eric uses all of his charm and skill trying to pick her up. He thinks he's losing his touch until she stands up and he gets an eye-full of a very pregnant Jean.
Told in the first person, single POV of Eric, what follows is his evolution from immature f*ckboy to responsible, naively romantic adult. Then friendship and love. I didn't think it was possible given his behavior in the previous books, but this author had me wrapped around Eric's finger. He was endearing.
Using pitch-perfect dialog between the characters and immersive world building, I had a hard time thinking of this place and these people as fictional. The Dive Bar feels like you could go there right now and pull up a chair with Eric, Nell or Joe.
Chaser is an adorable, charming romance! I loved every second. Eric tries his hand at love (and adulting), and I was rooting for him the whole way. I've enjoyed every book in this series; I'm sad to see it end.
