The week before the rest of the wedding guests arrive, Rome offers to be a human stress reliever for Janelle as she’s bogged down by the friction with her jealous sister. Rome’s motto is: “Whatever you need and want, whenever you need and want it.” As a high quality book boyfriend, he doesn’t disappoint in the infamous yacht scene (where they became a book club of two) or the snorkeling and room service scenes. He rides for her when she’s not there and even when she’s present and chooses not to speak up for herself. This book wasn’t just about finding love but also about creating boundaries and lived up to all the hype.

This was spicy 🌶️ but also had interwoven moments of sweetness and vulnerability between Rome & Janelle. I am not a fan of how long Janelle allowed Amerie to treat her the way she did not Arnold’s behavior during his moments too but the ending made up for it.

This hole insta live or insta relationship is not for me. I need a slow burn-ish romance.

This book was written for the millennial typical booktok girlie. I can tell. I loved reading a diverse book by a black author with black characters though.
This was a tad too cringe and insta lovey for me. But fun nonetheless

This book was so well written! For being such a fast-paced romance the depth and character development was amazing. There are characters you'll love and root for as well as characters you'll just want to punch in the face. Rome was a swoon-worthy book boyfriend. Not only was their relationship so fun to watch, bu they were so good for each other. The way he helped Janelle to stand up for and prioritize herself! And the banter between all the characters was fun.

The writing did slightly remind me of Wattpad (the word “orbs” was used once to refer to eyes) and ultimately not for me.

The MMC, Rome, is a character that exists solely to devote himself to the FMC, Janelle. I can completely see why that appeals to readers, but I personally found him to be flat and lacking personality.

Very spice-heavy for a relatively short book.
