Something Blue

This is the follow-up to Something Borrowed told from the perspective of the best friend Darcy. In the first book, we meet Darcy and learn that she is the beautiful best friend who has everything handed to her on a silver platter. After her plain-jane best friend, Rachel, steals her perfect fiance in the first book, you feel like Darcy got a good dose of karma. She did, after all, cheat on her fiance too and ended up pregnant while still engaged.

I almost didn't want to read this story, simply because it was from Darcy's perspective. However, I really liked this book much better than the first. I found myself really rooting for her. And you also come to realize that not everything is as it seems for Darcy. She may be the beautiful girl who seems to get everything she wants, but she is extremely self-conscious despite being so judgemental of others.

She does learn the error of her ways and really tries to turn her life around, now that she is pregnant and alone for the first time in her life. The ending left me very satisfied and surprisingly, left me crying happy tears for Darcy.

I hated the character of Darcy in the first book "something borrowed", but I really enjoyed her transformation in this book. I actually liked it better than "something borrowed". A quick and easy read, fun and entertaining.

It was by no means a hard book to read, though it started slow, I didn’t have a hard time getting through it. However, being inside the head of someone so frustrating got old about three chapters in, and by the end of the book I was tired of Darcy by the time she “redeemed” herself. I could have spent more detail in London, and less in New York.

I thoroughly enjoyed the switch in Darcy's character from complete and utter brat to empathetic mom. I do think, however, that the chunk of the book, which was mostly about how much of a brat Darcy is, was somewhat boring and longer than it should be. Nothing was impressive about the style of writing, but it wasn't bad. The progression of the story was predictable and the ending was the most predictable of all.

I wish we could 1/2 stars. I'd give this a 3.5. I liked this one more than Something Borrowed. Cute story. Quick read.

I wish they would have made this book into a movie! I was looking forward to it! She redeems herself in this book and you learn to love her character even with all of her flaws.

After reading Something Borrowed, I was really looking forward to get to hear the other side of the story. I will admit that I did not have warm feelings for Darcy when I started this book. The way that her character evolves in the book is very interesting and it is quite the adventure learning about Darcy's side of the story. This book is a hard one to put down. I finished it in a matter of hours. Very good book!

trashy!
