The writing is fine but the main character is still as disgusting as the previous book. I honestly couldn't care less that she was cheated on or that she suffered at all. She's vile. I know the writer wanted to 180 Darcy and make her likeable but we can still read her thoughts and she didn't really change at all. She became like 1% more likeable.

I had to literally force myself to finish to see if she did redeem herself like so many reviews said. In my opinion she didn't, she just learned to be less outwardly annoying.

Fun! Love that I totally changed my mind about Darcy. On to Babyproof...

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first. It is nice to see a character achieve redemption.

For the genre of chick lit, was a fun read.

The part I liked because of Snoopy:

"Still having writer's block?" I asked sympathetically
"Yeah. I feel like Snoopy stuck on that one line: 'It was a dark and stormy night.'"

This is my second time reading this book, and while I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first time, I really still like the characters, especially Ethan, and appreciated the evolution of Darcy's character. I don't know if it was completely believable, but it made for a fun, fast read!

2011: I re-read this after re-reading Something Borrowed (and seeing the movie). I'm still conflicted on this one. I like Emily Giffin's writing style and I adore some of the characters in this book (ie Ethan, Rachel and Dex). I still can't help but dislike Darcy. Yes, I know she grew up and changed (supposedly) in this book. I just don't know that I feel she deserves the totally happy ending with the awesome guy.

2007: (I had nothing to say about this book.)

i’m sorry rachel but darcy is now my favorite🤷🏽‍♂️

this book had such an adorable and happy ending. i was crying tears of joy at the end.

i really recommend this series if you are looking for chick-lit (-: it’s not cheesy but it’s a really cute and realistic story.

Super entertaining, but not as good as Something Borrowed.

The sequel to Something Borrowed, this tells the story of Darcy, whose fiance Dex left her for her best friend. She gets pregnant and flees to England to force herself upon her friend Ethan--who was not a Darcy fan. The first book was the story of Dex and Rachel and Darcy at no point came across sympathetically. And her attitude in Something Blue is no different.

So. An unsympathetic leading lady. We see the story through her eyes. Partway through the book, she has this great epiphany that she's not a good person and is all, "I'll be good now!" The problem here is that Giffin continues to describe Darcy's thoughts...and really, nothing is different. She may act differently on the outside, but at no point do her thoughts progress to a mature woman. I almost feel bad for Ethan at the end, that he's duped by Darcy's actions when we know that her thoughts--who she actually is--hasn't changed at all.

I really liked delving into Darcy's character. In a lot of ways this book is almost better that Something Borrowed because of the change of character and priorities that Darcy accomplishes. It is a very moving tale of love and friendship.
