Poor fucking cat, dude. Literally nothing happy has happened and if something happens that could be considered good, it's always tinged with heartbreak or something. Like he got his BFF back but his girlfriend hates him now. Oh? What's that? He got his nephew back? Yeah, but his nephew's adoptive mom is murdered in the middle of camp. Cool,  cool.
Like these are some dark ass books.
But the narrator is badass.

I have been reading this series aloud to my kids at bedtime for a while now. My 12 year old had read the books previously but stopped in the middle of this book. I now think I know why.

There were some interesting developments in this book, but it definitely felt like not as much happened in the middle parts of the book. It could be called suspense or else...maybe...filler between book 4 and book 6. SO much of this book seemed to be just biding its time, hoping that Bluestar would come back to her senses. And waiting to see what the Pack thing was all about, and what Tigerstar was going to do.

We even paused in the middle to read another book or two for a while. But we did eventually get back to it, and found that we were able to make it through the last quarter of the book without any trouble, as we were finally getting the payoff for all that set-up.

If you've been reading and enjoying the Warriors books through this point, it makes sense to read A Dangerous Path. Some books in a series are fine to read exclusive of the others in the series. I believe this is not a book that would stand well on its own.

One positive thing, though - we finished this book last night and my son (who is home sick from school today) is already asking me to read the 6th and final book in the series to him. I think he believes book 6 is the part of the story he's been waiting for all along - Fireheart becoming Firestar is something that he's had on his mind for about 3 books now!

Is it considered good writing if you can go from liking a beloved character to almost hating them within the span of one book? Fireheart and the Thunder Clan have a lot more trials, and most coming from within their own clan. I am slowly liking this series less and less due to decisions and actions of the characters. I was ready to give this book a 2.5 star rating, but the actions of a particular character at the end gave it a bump to 3 stars. Only one more book. Hopefully things can turn around.

I read it uesterday, it was good.
