3.5. Interesting storyline. Reminded me of The Giver by Lois Lowry and Scott Westerfeld "Uglies". I will read the rest of the series and see if it continues to develop.
adventurous fast-paced

Enjoyed reading this with my 8 year old, who loved it.

Cute! Kinda wish I knew more about the world but also not enough to read the other books in the series.

fun story filled with hope & a reminder to appreciate the small things; I thought I dreamt this book up for years until I finally found it is indeed a real book

Reread 10/8/2020:
Still a favorite. I love Lina and Doon and their sharp wit and cleverness.

This was a good read. It's set in a city where the only light is electric and the supply rooms thought endless seem to be running out of goods. Civil unrest is growing, but only two childhood friends have the information and the courage needed to save the city. First in a series.

So good! I know the movie is going to be lackluster by comparison, but I really loved the understated and sparse quality of this story. A simple but riveting story of another time/place where humans have long since forgotten why they live underground, and two curious young adults find a way to change things for everyone.
