I just can't handle how much I love each book more than the last. I thought my relationship with paranormal could never be repaired but this series is so perfect. I can't believe I wasted so much time on other paranormal series and kept pushing myself to read them because Darynda Jones does what no one else has done. She took an amazingly dramatic paranormal series and made laugh every time things became too heavy. This ones ends on quite the cliffhanger and I cannot wait for book six!

I was so glad to get an advanced copy of this book! It was another great read that I didn't want to put down. I loved Reyes as always... funny, sexy, protective.... I just adore him! And maybe want to molest him ... just a little.
I'm already feigning for the next book to see what becomes of Rocket's prediction and of course that last scene of the book has me begging for more!

Charley Davidson is always so much fun to ride along with!!!
This series has become one of my vices (the firsts step is admitting you have a problem). The constant will they/wont they mystery is going to make me CRAZY but I cant get enough!
Fifth Grave Past The Light picks up right where Fouth Grave Beneath My Feet left off. I have to say, out of all the books in this series, I think Fifth Grave officially tops the list as my favorite. This entire series is funny as hell but Fifth Grave is all out snort-coffee-out-of-your-nose kind of funny. I ended up “reading” a good portion of this by listening to the audio book while I was at work and it got me my fair share of sideways glances. Random giggles escaped my cubicle more times that I could possibly count! Between the constant A.D.D. attacks and her snarky comments left and right, Fifth Grave will definitely keep you laughing.
If the hilarity of this book isn’t enough, Charley’s new neighbor (and soul mate for all intents and purposes) is to DIE FOR. Reyes Farrow is such a FANTASTIC alpha male character. He’s all smoldery with the looks and completely funny in his own right. He’s also got a thing for Post-It notes. I love Post-It notes too. Just sayin’….. (*whispers* Reyes, call me!)
The mystery of the day in Fifth Grave is well-written and keeps you guessing until the very end. Darynda Jones has mastered the art of pacing in a book. Not too much, not too little, and I can honestly say that I didn’t have the ending even CLOSE to figured out.
Oh. And that ending I mentioned? Be prepared. When you get to the last paragraph, you’re going to shit frisbies. You have been warned.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was when it ended. Not the ending. Just the FACT that it ended. Now I sit here and wait (im)patiently for Sixth Grave on the Edge to come out….
I am giving Fifth Grave Past the Light 5 shining sythes! I will faithfully follow this series.

I was so excited to read this book because, hello, it's Charley Davidson! This series has been absolutely imcredible, and this has to be the best yet! These books are so funny, I always die laughing! The mystery in each book is so well done and different! don't even get me started on how great the characters are, in every way! Jones has really created a rare gem with this series! Especially with how different it is from any other book, and that even five books in, she makes it feel like the first, with the well done humor, and great story line! Jones doesn't cease to amaze me! This is possibly one of the best, no I take that back, it IS the BEST SERIES I have ever read! I cannot wait to read the sixth, I'm only sad that it's the last in the series! I just don't want it to end!

This is book number five in the Charley Davidson series, and her life hasn’t slowed down at all. She begins the novel working as a private investigator for a women convinced her husband is cheating on her. While the subject doesn’t take Charley’s bait, Cookie is an entirely different story. The situation turns awry, as many do that involve both Charley and Cookie. Charley demands that Cookie take a class on gun training with family friend, Noni. She’s a danger to them all.
Things really heat up between Reyes and Charley, now that he is living next door. Also, Charley really loves Reyes’s shower, which she has named George. Also, the mystery about what she will name her sofa has been solved, but I will let you discover that on your own.
Aside from the adulterer, Charley has another case that has made it’s way to her in a bit of an odd manner. Her apartment is full of dead women, well their ghosts anyway. All different ages and ethnicities , but all blonde. It seems this could be the work of a serial killer, who has been active for many years now.
Charley receives a visit from a dead nurse, claiming her family needs help finding her body. The strange thing is, the woman is still alive…
Captain Eckert has taken an interest in watching Charley work, insisting he wants to know her secrets. How can she solve several cold cases in one afternoon?
Garret is a wealth of information now, as well. It seems somebody has been doing his research. We learn more about his family’s past, too.
There are so many different threads in this novel, as per usual with the Charley Davidson novels. Even when the action is slow, there is usually something important going on, and several surprises as well. I love the ending. It seems this might be the one time, Charley doesn’t have something smart to say.

cute. not too much substance for the first part of the book.
