I liked parts of this and cringed at parts too. I feel like a lot of the story was a little too over the top and unbelievable, which made it hard to really love. I get that it's fiction, but I also have to believe the story is at least plausible and I couldn't do that with this one.

Jake and Mikayla were cute together in many instances, but they flip-flopped a great deal with their jealousy and insta love. They were both really immature in how they handled a lot of their emotions with each other. And there was way too much flirting with them being intimate and then calling it off at the last minute. I just didn't buy that given that neither of them were virgins and they were both over 18.

All in all, I liked it. Maybe the rest of the series will be better since those books are about different characters who have different stories.

I'm not sure what to think right now.

That last paragraph.

THAT LAST LINE.

Let me start of by saying that I have heard nothing but great things about this series. I was so excited to jump into this book, because of that, and almost immediately I was a bit shocked. Not so much in a good way.

The events that happen in the first 10-15% of this book were so crazy and drama filled. It is almost to the point of being unrealistic. Then in the rest of the first half of the book, everything just worked out perfectly for the "new couple." We can't do this for her, so you'll have to do it Jake, or yes, Mikayla, you can stay here forever and we don't care if you are sleeping in the same bed as Jake. That was a bit annoying, and unbelievable too. YET, I did relate to the couples feelings towards each other, and their tension. The tension in this book is CRAZY good.

Now, the jealousy and self doubt that seemed to pop up constantly and out of no where, was a bit much for me. It was a bit over the top, and made me want to smack them around a bit. I also thought the ending seemed rushed, which is one of my biggest pet peeves in books. We are spending all this time in the story to get to the ending, so why rush the best parts? Then throw in the extra bits of drama in the end, that I didn't think were necessary at all to the story and you get some more eye rolling from me.

BUT that ending was definitely a good one. I didn't see that last paragraph coming at all. Made me feel for Logan way more than I had. It kind of made reading the book worth it.

In the end, I was happy they got their Happily Ever After, well at least for now. Lucy and Logan have a soft spot in my heart. Loved their characters. I even enjoyed Jake, even though it was a bit over the top in a lot of areas.

And I will continue on with the series.

This is my second read of More Than This, yet from the prologue I was pulled back into this world with the More Than gang completely oblivious to the world around me until I read the very last word.

There isn’t another author that can wreck my feels like Jay McLean. Mikayla had been through an unimaginable tragedy and her emotions flooded my heart as if the trauma was happening to me. Jake was her strength and the connection that started the night they met grew more intense with every moment they shared. They were meant to meet they were without question the other half of each other’s soul.

The witty banter and the antics of the More Than gang are an outstanding way to bring laughter and some giggles (Drunk Lucy) to this intense emotional read.

Over 5 years since I read More Than This for the first time and it is still FIRMLY on my ALL-TIME favorite list. This series is so much More Than romance

Not sure why I waited almost 4 years to dive into this but I finally jumped into it and wow. More Than This was a great and very emotional book. In it, you will meet Mikayla and Jake. Now in the beginning, one will definitely feel horribly wrong for Mikayla. From a very important, and possibly happy, night due to to Prom to it becoming something she will never ever forget.

After an untimely and very unfortunate accident, her family is dead. Her whole world has been swept right from under her and honestly I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I can't even imagine what she went through (like in her brain) but at least she wasn't completely alone. No, she had Jake right by her side.

Now these two were really cute and I'm glad that he was there to help her through this horrible and tragic time. The only thing that really annoyed me was the insta-jealousy that kept happening. I get that they are in high school but dang - it was frustrating.

Other than that, it was a bit predictable - especially the ending. I still enjoyed it though.

This is a Must read! I have read this book multiple times and each time its better and better. This book hooked me from the first page I couldn't put it down. I loved every single page, I laughed, I cried, I got angry. Everything hurt. this book it was an emotional roller coaster and I loved it! it's absolutely amazing. Kayla is an amazing character, she suffers through so much. First she expierences Betrayal from two ppl who mean the most to her. It comes as a devastating shock to her an on a very important night. Thankfully out night in shining armor is there, Jake. Let me just say this author know how to write a book boyfriend. Jake Andrews is Everything you could possibly ever dream of. He happens to be there and witness this horrible betrayal as it unravels to Kayla. He just steps up and takes charge trying to salvage her night. We then meet Jake's friends, and I instantly fell in love with them. This book has great characters, I felt like I have know them my hole life, they are very relatable. the author then slices her readers heart to shreds with another devastating blow we didn't see coming. Poor Kayla, it was absolutely tragic. My heart bled for her, I cried for her. Jake was there for her and it was so touching. Jake know from pretty early on that he loves Kayla and she is his one. I just love how much he loves her, it's truly unconditional. These two make each other crazy and if they would have just opened up and spoke words I think it would have helped from the very beginning. Jake was very protective and caveman when it comes to Kayla... swoon! Kayla was just as crazy over him. "I would tell you to never settle for anything less than the Jake Andrewses for the world. Because they exist - and not just in fairy tales"Every girl seriously needs a Jake Andrews, or to experience a love like this at least once in their life time. this is my sixth time reading the series and Jake and Kayla are still on my top list of all time favorite couples. This is a Love story that places such a strong hold on you that you will never forget it. Do not pass this up! Read it it will consume you from the inside out.

Jay’s books got me out of a reading slump in 2021 when I stumbled across this series after reading Lucas’ story. I was intrigued by the side characters not knowing it was the other way around.

Book one wasn’t that really great TBH and I can see why people would give up on the series after the first one but they get better. I personally was really keen on Lucy and Cams ship so patiently read them in order.

MC - not very memorable Jake was ok. Miky annoyed me.
Kindle - KU
Easy read

You could probably skip this one but if you want to get to know more about the gang and the little bits and pieces then read it.

It's like the author would write one scene in one sitting. One conversation with one cup of coffee which wasn't actually a bad idea, it's what makes it intense, but I'm betting that is the reason of the grammar errors all others are complaining of. If you are an extreme grammar nazi, do not read this book, if you are a book lover/ boyfriend book lover then by all means. Indulge and get annoyed, stressed out, be irritated and love the characters (and the author) at the same time. Fine quick and a happy read.
