I think that this is a good book, but I’m way too far in my own healing journey for this to impact me. I think that this is a really good starter book for someone who is just trying to figure out the next steps in their life and start getting better.

fuck you gary what a waste of time

Some pretty interesting tidbits on getting out of your own way. He offers a pretty blunt take on a topic that has been covered by many an author. A no holds barred look that gives you things to think about and work on in your everyday life as well as with your larger life goals.

This book has some good reminders for things you already know, but no steps to help make any changes. I decided to read it because I have some big dreams and goals for the upcoming year and needed a reminder that I am in charge of my own life!

One of the best books I've read/listened to in a while (only 3 hours, on Hoopla). The beginning is kind of slow, so skip on past it and get into the meatier chapters ;)

What a terrific book to read during these difficult times as well!

As an aside, I tend to avoid/refuse self-help-y books and rate them poorly (my 2-star review of Mark Manson's last book is a "top liked review" on Goodreads, for a perspective of my opinions/tastes) but when a trusted friend who predominantly reads comics rated this 5-stars last year, I put it on my "to-read" list. Feeling a little blue over the state of current affairs, I opted to give this a try last... stayed up to finish and LISTENED TO THE ENTIRE THING AGAIN THIS MORNING.

I also sent a text about this book to 7 people, which I'm not sure I've ever done before... My fave quote from the book
“You have the life you’re willing to put up with”

Yeah. Nothing ground breaking here. You make your choices in your life. If you are unhappy, stop selling for that, change something.

Not the best, it was just okay I think.

I didn't learn something new from it, so maybe that's why I gave it a 2 stars rating. :)
