Tiga bintang untuk romansa antara Gia - Bradley Palsu yang manis banget (tapi gak bikin eneg), plus adik si Bradley Palsu dan juga keluarganya yang keren abis. Dua bintang yang lain luruh karena tokoh-tokoh di sekeliling mereka yang hampir semuanya pengin kutendang ke luar angkasa. Yah, Gia emang sudah berbohong, tapi serius, "sahabat-sahabatnya" itu bereaksi secara BERLEBIHAN (and who the heck treat their longtime (I assume) friend like that bcs of some new bitchy girl?!)
Di bawah ini cuma semacam ngomel aja sih, dan berpotensi spoiler juga, tapi aku nggak tau harus berbagi kekesalan ini ke mana...
Mari kita mulai dengan Claire. Sahabat yang diklaim Gia sebagai seseorang yang paling dekat dengan dirinya. Waktu Gia ketahuan bohong tentang pacarnya saat prom, dia langsung ngambek. Gak mau dengerin penjelasan Gia, dan ngode-ngode mau tukar teman sekamar. Bilangnya dia yang paling percaya sama Gia meski Gia gak bawa siapapun ke prom, sebuah pernyataan yang bullshit abis karena dia sama sekali nggak ngebelain Gia waktu Jules nuduh sahabat terdekatnya itu ngegodain pacarnya, bahkan terkesan dia ngebela Jules. So much for a friendship.
Yang kedua, Laney. Serius, dia gak punya kontribusi apa pun di jalan cerita. Kalo dia tiba-tiba ngilang pun kayaknya aku gak bakal notis. Dia juga termasuk tim Jules, dan kesannya kayak kerbau dicocok hidungnya. Seolah-olah cuma ngikut aja.
Yang ketiga, Jules. The biggest bitch of the century. Anak baru yang tiba-tiba masuk geng dan secara tidak gamblang mengancam untuk merebut "sahabat-sahabat"-nya Gia. Alasannya adalah karena "ibunya suka gonta-ganti cowok, dan dia keseringan pindah sekolah sehingga dia nggak punya teman, dan baru menemukan sosok Claire yang bisa membuatnya merasa diterima. Claire pantas mendapatkan teman yang lebih baik" yang mana merupakan alasan paling SHITTY yang pernah kutemukan. Sosok yang digambarkan paling menderita sedunia dan rela senggol sana-sini hanya demi mencari teman dan validasi. Dan dia mikir dirinya jauh lebih baik dari Gia? Yah, kalo aja tokoh Claire dibikin jadi cewek yang lebih cerdas, dia nggak bakalan mau temenan sama cewek modelan Jules begini. Untuk Jules-Jules di luaran sana (yang sayangnya memang ada orang macam begini dan herannya lagi kebanyakan orang percaya sama dia), aku tahu hidupmu sangat menderita, sayang. Tapi nggak lantas itu jadi alasan menjadi orang menyebalkan sok tahu, berhati busuk dan tukang spill.
Lagian, kalau dipikir-pikir lagi, Gia nggak bakal bohong kalau "sahabat-sahabat"-nya itu bisa dipercaya dan nggak semudah itu disetir sama si "anak baru" yang notabene orang luar.
Dahlah, aku lagi kesal. I need a light book to free me from this headache.... karena tokoh-tokoh di atas beneran bikin sakit kepala.

Okay. So I tried to read this book. Its hard to get into and its just a weird book to read. Im saying no. But sometime later when I have absolutely nothing to do, maybe I'll read it. Bye for now.

This was a fun and quick read, but I don’t really think that it was a satisfying story. I liked the relationship between Gia and Hayden, but I did not like the writing a lot of the time, especially the dialogue because it seemed robotic and super structured, and I felt like the ending was not a real conclusion. It left a lot of loose ends and plot lines unresolved. Nothing was wrapped up and it seemed like the author just chose a spot to stop writing. I still did enjoy this book overall, it was entertaining and fun to read.

Fake dating is one of my favourite things yet not even that could raise it higher than three stars. An okay read that I'd only recommend if you really love fake dating.

I've been in this teen-chick-flick-rom-com mood lately (I've been binging Miss Congeniality 1 & 2, the A Cinderella Story franchise, Valley Girl etc.), but I realized that I hadn't picked up a really good YA contemporary romance in a while, so why just reread one? And I'll be honest, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this as much as when I first read it, especially after having read nearly all of Kasie West's other books. I'm really happy to say that this was, and is a great romantic story, with no shortage of cuteness, and some decent lessons about life. I'll always love the way it handles bottling up your emotions, and feeling afraid to show people the true you, even four years after I first read it, it still rings so true for me.

This book was my first Kasie West, and it introduced me to one of my favorite authors. I love how she writes such sweet and heartwarming romances, but none of them feel like the same story with just a different coat of paint. This one is no exception, it's great and I recommend it to all fans of the genre.

This book was the definition of an easy read. And I was enjoying the fluffy cuteness for a while, but the end kinda teetered off into weirdness? I genuinely thought I was missing the end of the book...the acknowledgments might as well have slapped me.

Jak mám ještě tu Kasie Westovou vychvalovat? Copak jsem už všechno neřekla v recenzích na její předchozí knihy?
Náhradní kluk se mi překvapivě také líbil. I když mi tady pár věcí logicky moc nesedělo, nemělo to na to, aby mě to odrazovalo od čtení. Akorát jsem zrovna u téhle knihy myslela na to, že já opravdu nejsem ta správná cílová kategorie. Ale co. Bylo mi to fuk.
Do Náhradního kluka se také určitě můžete pustit, ale na P. S. Líbíš se mi a Po tvém boku to nemá.
Náhradní kluk se mi překvapivě také líbil. I když mi tady pár věcí logicky moc nesedělo, nemělo to na to, aby mě to odrazovalo od čtení. Akorát jsem zrovna u téhle knihy myslela na to, že já opravdu nejsem ta správná cílová kategorie. Ale co. Bylo mi to fuk.
