This book had some hype, but upon first look I really had no interest in it. But my book club wanted to read it, so I did. I honestly didn't like it, didn't even want to finish it.
Sad and hopeful at the same time. We as humans are truly capable of rising up from the ashes again and again.

I enjoyed this book, although it took awhile to get into it. Having three main perspectives really worked well with showing the mental struggles on the inside versus how someone is perceived on the outside.

The story is told from the perspective of individual family members, each dealing with loss in their own way. The conflict of which all this is determined is not identified clearly until late in the book, and it was hard for me to really connect with any specific character. Their backstories seemed to be somewhat glossed over, with details, again, coming late in the book. Overall, I enjoyed it.
I wanted to like this, but didn't find enough variation between the characters voices--this just made it too difficult to hook in to the story for me. Stopped around pg 90.
