I read this back to back with Playing hard to get which takes place pretty much in the exact same timeline. If I had to pick a book boyfriend I was a lot more into Knox than I was Cam. At times I wasn’t so sure why she was pursuing him.
But I have a soft spot for sport Romance especially when they are a part of a series. So it was still a fun light read.

Going into Cam and Blair’s story I was so excited that I devoured it, yet I wasn’t prepared for the storm of emotions that consumed me. Cam is Knox’s best friend and teammate who has some baggage of his own. It was easy for me to fall in love with him because yes he was a cocky football player but when we see his moments of vulnerability my heart hurt for him and I wanted to be there for him. Blair is Knox’s younger sister and he is very protective over her and she’s seen Cam around for a while but things between the have ever only been brief and platonic until the tension becomes unbearable. Together they are hot especially between the sheets but both of them have a lot of things that hold them back and things comes across as toxic at times. The angst and pain that they go through as they try to navigate life, sports, love, emotions, and so much at times becomes unbearable that they turn on each other. Cam thinks he isn’t worth y of Blair and that there will never be a time that he ever will be, but she sees the good in his heart is that enough to carry them through or will the insecurities shred them to pieces? This story was so real and emotional you feel their pain and you become invested in their growth and lives. Cam was such an amazing character I absolutely love him, I can’t wait for more.

I loved Playing Hard to Get, and was excited to read Blair's book. I thought this book was good, and I liked both Blair and Camden. I liked that Blair helped Cam see a different side of himself, and I liked Blair's confidence and stubbornness in showing Cam that he's more than his insecurities.
However, something fell short for me, and I think it was that their story ran alongside Knox and Jojo's story. I thought that Blair and Camden's would be after, so I was excited to see more of Blair and Jojo's friendship, which we didn't get, and I was a bit disappointed. I also found the repetition of how hot Cam was a bit much and thought at times, the chemistry between the two was more telling and not showing. Finally, I wanted a bit more insight into their connection and friendship.
While this sounds like I didn't like this book, I actually quite enjoyed it. I just had different expectations going in, and that's on me. I think that this is a great book for fans of brother's best friends, sports and college romance and I'm looking forward to Ruby's book.

tropes: brothers best friend, football
blair has been crushing on her brothers best friend forever and now that she’s in college attending the same school she’s determined to get what she wants or move on for good. cam always knew blair was pretty, but she’s always been off limits and he has no idea how a relationship works. the universe keeps bringing them together on random occasions and his feelings for her start to become undeniable. the problem is that blair’s brother would never approve because blair has been hurt before, but love conquers all.
i loveeee a good sports romance and monica murphy is feeding me with this series! blair and cam are so cute and i love how obsessed they are with each other :))

After getting snippets of Cam and Blair in Playing Hard to Get, I knew they were going to be a great couple to read about. And I was right!
So much angst in this slow-burn best friends younger sister story. So freaking good.
I loved that instead of following on from book 1, the time lines were the same so we got to read things from Blair and Cam's POV when it came to Knox and Joanna falling in love - since I LOVED them, this made me very happy!
SPOILER AHEAD
One thing I really loved, and I even DM'ed Monica to tell her, was how Knox reacted to Cam and Blair being together. He was shocked, but not angry. He didn't punch him - like in every other book I've read. He explained his hurt that they kept it from him, but shared that he understood and that as long as they're happy that's all that matters. It was a very mature response!
And I loved the epilogue! Ugh, Blair and Cam are just wonderful. Knox and Joanna are just wonderful. Monica is wonderful for having written these books!

Football Romance
Brothers Best Friend
Extreme Tension
Mental Health Representation
I love this story. The tension is some of Monica Murphy’s best! I’m loving how forward Blair is, and how much Cam is tries to fight it… These two had me smiling. I also love that each other's feelings were mutual for one another. They both feel this undeniable connection, that they cannot shake. Cam’s international thoughts for Blair had me swooning a bit. Blair has this fire about her that you rarely see in characters, she takes what she wants and what she wants is Cam! Gosh these two are explosive.
The chemistry between these two oh baby, and the teasing moments were so much fun. The will they won't they added a layer of angst I really enjoyed. This story had so many layers to it. The characters were three dimensional, with real life struggles. Monica murphy did a great job at making the characters relatable. This story portrays mental health Struggles in a realistic way. The representation felt personal to me because it's something I personally struggle with. I loved that it wasn't fixed overnight, the characters are working at it every day, and love doesn't just cure it. I really commend Monica Murphy for this.
This is definitely one of my favorite Monica Murphy stories, the banter, the tension, and the character development is top notch. The story was intriguing and well developed, it was a great take on tropes readers know so well. So far I am obsessed with this series. Cam and Blair have stollen my heart!

After having this book dedicated to Taylor Swift’s folklore, I was excepting MUCH more.
Major book icks:
- when fmc goes “the feminist in me should not like this but I do” like girl he’s just pulling your hair, relax
- mmc only noticing fmc when she got hot, then only wanting to have sex with her when she is clearly in love with him even though he also is clearly in love with her too
- too much sex scenes, not enough plot
- mmc goes to therapy for a month and is now slaying the game (his therapist is also named Betty, TS reference check)
- mad woman plays at the beginning of the book in a slay way and then at the end, fmc wants to turn it off because she doesn’t like it…doesn’t like it or can’t relate anymore? Anyway, now I’m a mad woman

After the glimpse of them in Knox’s book, I couldn’t wait to read this story! Brother’s best friend/best friend’s little sister is a great trope, and it was done so well here! Can’t wait for the next in this series!
