A really interesting premise and set up to all the characters. Good banter. Likeable characters.
Yato is a bit of a stray god. No shrine, no followers, and he can barely keep his shinki in check. As beggars can't be choosers he takes on odd jobs for meagering offerings, giving a very broad definition to the term service.
This was the first volume in a 27 volume series which best I can tell finished (in English) end of 2024. There looks to be 3 bonus volumes, Norigama Stray Stories, that were also released.
As it's a larger series I want to be a bit picky before getting too hooked. Right now the first 11 volumes are included with Kindle Unlimited so that's a good place to check it out before committing. Libraries are a great resource as well.
Overall I'm super intrigued at the premise and find Yato rather entertaining. The first setting with the heavy bullying was a heavier start than I expected going into the series.
I like the art style of the manga so I think I will continue for at least a few more volumes. I also like the translators notes included in the back of the volume which is a nice touch.

I watched the anime back when it aired but never had the chance to read the manga! Thankfully, thanks to Kodansha first volume sale I got this one! And it was great fun to read! Hiyori and Yato are such fab characters and I am glad I could see them again. I definitely would like to read more of this series and get to know everyone again, it has been a while! I love the spooky things, love that Yato is just taking 5 yen coins (boo, if you want a shrine you better get more money). Though Yukine... *sighs* I remember he was quite unlikeable in the beginning.

I love everything about this series. Except the women-sexualization

Yato is a god without a home... or followers, but he's determined to see the most lavish shrines built to honor him. In the meantime, he's forced to work a lot of odd ball jobs: saving kittens, stopping bullies, some handy-man work. But it will all be worth it once he is the most beloved god of them all.
I really enjoyed this! Great action, amusing characters, and captivating artwork. It's not really unique premise, but it's done in a great way! On to volume 2!

The art is LOVELY. The story feels a bit formulaic, but this is just volume one and I'm interested to see where it goes. The section in the back that explains some of the translation issues and choices is especially interesting!
