Whoa, I never ever HEARD of this series but it was a lot of fun.
So it begins with a girl getting bullied in class. So she finally gives up and calls a number on a bathroom stall that says hire them for help. A god comes and says he's there to fix all her problems. However, she doesn't believe him. Hilarity ensues. After that big first chapter we get much deeper into the God and his life but also the other main character of the series. Can they work together to stop demons and save people who is the god too much of a stuck up to do any of that?
This was really fast paced and fun. The fights were cool but it was the humor that worked almost all the time. Little slapstick but mostly just great reactionary humor. I also enjoyed all the characters, and especially the god, who's a piece of shit. I'll be checking out more of this series. A 4 out of 5.

Read chapters 1-3 on KManga.
Noragami is a very minor god who will help people who ask for it. He will find lost cats, fix faucets, or deal with angry people. The anger in this world stems from lifeless spirits hanging around. I seem to like this "unseen spirits infect people" sub-genre of manga.
Only one of the characters introduced in chapter 1 seem to be longer-term characters for the series, which tripped me up a bit. So far I like the new characters introduced by the end of the volume.

This was my first read of a manga and I did enjoy it. I found it difficult getting used to reading from back to front and even the pages but I think with practice would get used to it.
I found the main character a bit of a pain, in that he was so selfish in some ways.
The other characters were engaging and in the first chapter I felt I could relate to the female character who as Yato for help.
The other two chapters I found slightly less engaging.
Will I read more in this series? I think I will give the next book a go and see from there.

Looking forward to the next few volumes to confirm whether this is a 3- or 4-star series overall, once the story picks up (which it seems about to do by the end of vol. 1).
Beautiful artwork highlights this engaging urban supernatural adventure about Yato, a homeless, follower-less god trying to scrape together enough cash to build himself a shrine. He does this one 5-yen coin at a time--the standard money-offering, and the amount he charges for the odd jobs he does, from stopping bullies to finding lost pets. Hiyori is a girl who stumbles upon him when her spirit gets temporarily knocked out of her body saving him (she thinks) from getting hit by a bus. Can Hiyori learn to control this recurring condition before darker entities devour her? Will the vagabond Yato get his act together long enough to help her, and get closer to his own goals?
Engaging manga that strikes a good balance between dramatic supernatural quest and lighthearted humor.
